The sky crumbled before me, giant black cracks forming in a matter of seconds. A blistering red tumbled throughout the clouds, spilling like blood - masking me in a luscious rose shadow. My hair whipped around me, leaving tiny welts from the intensity of the shifting atmosphere, something looming in front of me.
Fear didn't paralyse me, in fact, I expected it. I'd been waiting 20 years for it, from the day I was reborn till the day of my death. A sad cycle really, but what has to be done has to be done - right? Some kind of guilt lurked within me, my human family carrying on with their lives, expecting me back later only to be greeted with the panic that I'm missing, they'll spend years searching for me but to no avail; they'll never find out that I've been under their noses the entire time and that eats me up when I let my thoughts consume me.
I took a gentle step towards the freak of nature, the presence of death greeting me with love. I whisked in the scent, the drive to continue delicious and fresh. Letting my inner demon out, I felt the transformation happen. My mouth grew wide, a cackle escaping from inside of me with no control. The glory I had been waiting for was finally here! The earth swallowed me up with a colossal gulp, ridding it of the evil that plagued it. A hand grabbed me, stopping my entry into hell with a sharp pinch.443Please respect copyright.PENANATlFvpVPbfh
"Lilith. How kind of you to join me." The booming voice whispered into my ears that had grown freakishly long and had become extremely sensitive.
The hands pushed me out of the ground, pulling me into a tight house that seemed to grow ominously. A new personality had settled into my heart that no longer beats, my way of life was no longer the "lavish lifestyle" I had with humans. 443Please respect copyright.PENANAIxkFGjFqnC
"I heard your time with... the experiments changed you quite drastically." Concern wrapped his lips, almost making me twitch with laughter.
"You haven't changed, James, don't try and mimic the foolish when you've failed for thousands of years." Gleefully I tugged at his collar, giggling at the idiocy he had conjured up whilst I had been gone.
He slammed my back, a booming laugh echoing around the room: "Welcome back my princess! We must go visit the Devil sometime, he'd love to see that you've finally grown a sense of humour - perhaps I need to go down next!"443Please respect copyright.PENANAISE9r5bDmN
Something tugged at me, deep inside. I clapped my hand around his mouth, instantly retrieving it as I stood shocked at my actions, James seemed shocked too - his face suddenly dark.
"..."
"Are.. are you sure you're really you?" He quietly questioned with suspicion.
Had I changed too much?
Fear gripped me, a different kind of fear that I'd never really experienced before.
Slowly I answered James with, "Can we go and see the Devil now?"
A brief nod was given before he dragged me through the tunnels leading to our leader, a consistent worry clouded my head as I was sure I had never read this as a possible side effect. We finally ran into the horned door that blocked our entry, the protruding spikes giving us the heavy feeling of doubt. James pushed a series of buttons, stating his presence before the door creaked open, a countdown of 10 seconds given before it closed.
The Devil waited inside, sat in a cloak and bathing in lava. We walked through, giving each other a grim look.
"James. Lilith." Vibrations travelled from his voice, the inconvenience clearly upsetting him.
James took the lead: "There's something wrong with Lilith."
He looked up at us, a curious gleam in his eyes, "Explain."
So, I explained what had previously happened, hoping my honesty wouldn't result in me becoming a full... experiment. The Devil nodded his head curtly, seemingly acknowledging my feelings for once.
A silence ensued as I stopped, the air becoming a little thick as I waited.
He lifted a hand up, paused, and muttered the words that sent me tumbling:
"You're becoming a human."443Please respect copyright.PENANAqeQDXmFhvI
