Katrina Kuznetsov’s POV
I grunted in my sleep as I was tossing and turning in my bed. My bed? I abruptly stood up from the bed as I was out of my focused mind. Stay calm, Katrina, you were not being kidnapped. I told myself repeatedly before I looked beside the bed. There was a note sticking to the lamp.
“make sure to take Advil with water,” I read as I looked there were two tablets of Advil and water. I took and drank the water before swallowing the tablets. I looked around as I got off of the bed. I went into the bathroom and there was another note stuck to the mirror.
“shower and get dress. Meet me downstairs in five,” I read before rolling my eyes at this monstrosity.
“who shower and get the dress in 5 minutes,” I hissed as I went into the shower and took a short bath. I then went to the closet as I saw a sundress that was hanging in the closet. I took it and there was a note attached to it.
“the underwear is in the drawer,” I read before going to the drawer. I opened it up and different design of underwear were placed in there.
“holy moly!” I said as I touched the luxury fabric.
“how come he knows my size?” I said as I tried the black lace and thong before putting on the sundress. It was nice before I went outside the bedroom. A butler was waiting outside the room.
“milady, His excellency is waiting for you downstairs. I am here to escort you to him,” the old butler said as I nodded at him.
“this way please,” he said as I followed him. We were going down the spiral stairs as I looked up. The freaking stairs went on and on forever as I looked up.
“in here please, ma’am,” he said before opening the door to me. I nodded at him as I took a step inside the door. He closed the door as I looked around the extravagant dining room.
“I see that you are awake,” a voice startled me. I jumped as I looked to my right. Conall Reid was dressing up in casual polo shirt with denim jeans.
“Please, this way, miss,” he said as he offered me his arms. I took it as he brings me to the dining table.
“where am I?” I asked him as I looked at him. He helped me to get into the seat as he took a seat in front of me.
“we’re in my private penthouse at my hotel in Moscow. Coffee?” He asked as he looked at me. I shook my head a no before he poured himself a cup.
“why you bring me here?” I asked, straight to the point. I looked at him intensely as he sighed before looked at me.
“I just want to get to know you that’s all. Is that so hard to ask?” He said as he chuckled at his own joke.
“This is kidnapping,” I said coldly. He looked at me as he was smirking at me.
“Are you sure, Katrina? I thought you were eager last night to meet me,” he said as he looked at me with his emerald orbs.
“let’s just say, you have agreed to help me if I gave you want you to want,” he said as the servants came to put breakfast in front of us.
“what I want? I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said as I crossed my arms at him.
“leave us,” he said before all the servants went out of the room. He stood up from his seat and went to level his eye contact with me as he leaned at my chair and on the table.
“Should I make you remember what you told last night,” he said before going to my left ear, “or should I show you how it was done?” He whispered at me as I stood up from the chair and stepped back from him.
“you’re crazy. I thought you were a gentleman but now I see the real man who you really is,” I said as I staggered backward.
“and what would that be, Katrina?” He asked as he was towering me when my back hit the wall.
“you’re a monster like what my father said,” I said as he stopped in his track.
“is that how you view me, Katrina?” He asked as if he sounded hurt at my claim.
“yes,” I whispered as I need to make a few exit plan if he was to attack me. But what I don’t expect him to be was laughing after I said that.
“is that how you view me? After the research that you have done on me. How hilarious you Kuznetsov lots,” he chuckled as I looked at him confused. He was laughing and that sound did not sound so bad at all.
“look, all I want you to do for me is to convince your father that I need the Emerald right away as of tonight. I will be leaving for Scotland tomorrow morning. Can you do that for me, love?” He said as he looked at me with admiration. I don’t know what took over me but I nodded at him.
“excellent. Now that’s all settled, can we just eat our breakfast in peace?” He said as he offered me his hand. Without a doubt, I took it as went to take a seat as he helped me. We dug into our food as we were having a little chit chat to know about each other.
“say, Katrina, do you have any boyfriend, suitors or husband to be?” Conall asked me as I looked up from my plate. I looked at him as he was staring at me with his eyes.
“no, why?” I asked. Anticipation was building up inside of me as I was wondering what he would be saying after that.
“if you like, I am offering you a position with me, back in Scotland. By the looks of it, you really want to get out Moscow,” he said as he sipped on his coffee.
“am I now? And how you can be assured of that, Mr. Reid?” I said as I looked at him. He put his coffee down before dabbing his mouth with a napkin.
“because you have an inquisitive mind like myself. What if I told you that I can go back in time and I want you to come with me?” He said as he was looking at me. yup, I can confirm that he was officially a lunatic.
“Alright, I’m done here. Take me home,” I said as I stood up. Conall stood up as well before he went to hold my wrist. Electrics were passing through my body as I looked at him sharply.
“wait, I’m not finished. I am actually in the need of your help, Katrina and by the looks of it, I have no choice but to have you at my side,” he said as he looked at me deeply in the eyes. His orbs were glistening as I was ensnared by him.
“why me?” I asked. He was smiling for the first time as he dragged me out of the dining room and we went through a series of doors. I was confused with the direction as I just followed him.
“we’re here,” he said as I looked around the basement of a garage, I was not sure. I looked around as there were so many things and equipment that I don’t know about.
“and here are the main prize,” he said as he took off the blanket that covered the machine. It was an accelerator with the size of a man.
“isn’t it beautiful?” He asked me as I just nodded at him.
“Yeah, if you say so,” I said as I walked around to see it. It has the shape of a circle that looks like a teleport machine.
“it was not done yet because I still need the Emerald to complete the coding and then we will know if I make a breakthrough for the quantum realm of space and time continuum,” he said eagerly as he went to start up the machine.
“it will take time to start up, we better make a move,” he said before he called for his butler to check if there was any package delivered to him.
“thank you, you will bring that straight down here,” he said before he looked at me. From that moment on, I knew that Conall Reid was definitely not a bad and dangerous person.
