Another year passed, and what have I done?

Did I do anything important,

In this rotation around the sun?

Another year passed, and this I fear,

When my end draws near.

Another year over, I let out a breath,

This is it, I made it,

For 365 days, I escaped death.

Another year passed, and as I contemplate why,

I ever thought it was a good idea,

To let life pass me by?

Another year passed, and this I think is truth,

That excitement and ambition,

Slowly leave with your youth.

Another year passed, and what have I done?

Published a novel,

And started another one.

Another year over, and I think I may know:

My mark is being made,

I'm reaping what I've sowed.
