Pansexuality refers to an attraction to all genders. People who identify as pansexual, or pan for short, are often confused for bisexuality.
There is a difference though. Bisexuality is an attraction to two genders-usually male and female. Someone who is pansexual can be attracted to male, female, trans, intersex, agender, or any other gender identity.
Gender identity in a relationship doesn't matter to someone who is pansexual.
Bisexuality and pansexuality can overlap. Someone who is bisexual may still be open to dating someone outside of the gender bianary. Likewise someone who is pansexual may identify as bi for the sole reason that it is known a bit better. In such cases it's a matter of self-perception which should be respected.
Basically with pansexuality comes gender-blindness meaning gender isn't a fact when it comes to attraction. It's a bit more inclusive than bisexuality which with the prefix bi references two genders.
