If something is stolen....what would you do?
I didn't know, not until it happened to me.
The rivers are beautiful at night time, especially when the stars perform their dance have beauty, falling from the sky with a gracefulness that only the wind can match.
Tall trees of an ever so green cast dark silhouettes across the mural that is the galaxy.
I walked within a dream, I knew this for sure.
I wore a moonlight colored dress that was a soft as silk and as pure as fresh snow.
“You've been stolen.” said a voice.
“Yes, but whoever has stolen me is very kind.” I replied, smiling.
I walked into the forest.
A canopy of foliage resided above me.
It was if I was in the castle of a fairy king.
Bright lights guided my feet.
As I looked closer at the lights, I found that they were actually small beings, creating the voice of then wind with their songs.
I laughed into the cool atmosphere, my voice echoing as if it was echoing across the whole wide world.
“You've been stolen.” said a voice.
“Yes, but the one that did must have some mercy on this wretched sinner in they have done so.” I responded.
“Will you ever go back?” asked then voice again.
“How can I go back when I have been stolen?” I responded, quite perplexed by the question.
“What have you stolen? What else has stolen you and wants you back?” began the voice.
“What about those things you have stolen that you will long for?”
“I’ve never stolen a thing…” I replied.
I began to feel a sense of falling.
The ground had disappeared from under my feet, and darkness began to consume my whole being.
I was surprised that I did not feel the fall.
I didn't even scream.
I soon landed onto ground, ground meaning a shallow body of water.
As I walked, I found that mirrors surrounded me, just like soldiers lined up in a castle corridor.
I looked into one.
A little girl sat alone on a swing, trying to hide from faceless oppressors.
She held wilted flowers in her hand, a symbol of how she was left alone on the battleground of childhood.
In another mirror, the same girl had grown up, weaving a world of wonder and whimsy with a pen fueled by her heart's longing for someone to call her own best friend.
Her world was burned by the fires of the futures, burning the bridge and leaving her in the past.
She soon found herself in a hospital bed, where medications of depression, lament, confusion and and bitterness were given to her by tubes.
Her heart began to flicker in the winds of time, and comatose became her new state of living.
She never knew the ones who loved her, the ones that flew away.
She was lost in the darkness of a coma...
Until something lit her world.
I began to see the girl drown herself with her forgotten tears, until a hand reached for her.
The girl had awakened, but the world was not how she left it.
Those she loved had left the bonds of human flesh to fly with the angels.
She wandered into darkness, until she found something.
She found she wasn't alone.
All she had lost was brought back to her, and though the ones she loved were gone forever, she knew that forever was not eternity.
She was stolen away.
But by what?
I heard a chorus of children singing in a church, some off key some on.
I saw the sun and the moon rotate back and forth, I watched seasons fall and darkness fade.
I saw new life, and its parents holding it close with tears in their eyes.
I saw the old die, but not in vain.
I saw animals run and fly free.
I saw a man and woman standing at the altar, moments before their vows were sealed with a kiss.
I saw everything-sad and happy, good and bad.
Then I saw the most glorious image of them all.
A wooden cross stood in the sunrise, and a man with wholes in His hand smiling.
"Do you see now what has stolen you?" asked a voice from behind me.
A young man looked at me with kind eyes, and I began to remember everything.
I was the girl who was left alone in battle, I was the girl lost in darkness.
Tears began to fill my eyes.
"Yes...I remember..." I replied.
I looked to the man who stood shining in front of the cross.
"However, stolen is not the word I'd use for what this man has done for me."
"He has captivated me, taking me, someone far less than perfect and called me his own."
"He has accepted me...and though deserve nothing, He has given to me all that mattered."
"He gave me life."
"He gave me freedom."
"He gave me the ones I love, the power to sing freely and live apart from my sorrows."
I looked at the young man.
His smile began to melt my heart.
"He gave me you..."
"And in a different way from His, you stole my heart without me knowing, and I let you keep it." responded the man.
"And you did the same to me..." I replied.
I looked to the man standing in front of the cross.
He smiled as the young man and I walked towards him.
I was never going back, never going to leave the One who captivated me, and I was never going to leave the one who stole my heart away with his gentle smile.
I had stolen all the beauty with eyes of wonder, but I couldn't have stolen it without the freedom of redemption.
I was happy in my state of being taken away.
And for the rest of my life, I shall stay in this world where hurt and healing collide in the sight of the rugged old cross.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound.
That saved a wretch like me.
My heart was shattered and buried in lifeless ground.
I rejected Him, yet He wanted me, how could this be?
Amazing grace, how wonderful thy love.
That stole my heart, with mercy divine.
That He would leave his kingdom above.
To show me the way to freedom that He made mine.
I was once was lost but now I'm found.
Was blind, but now I see.
All pain of my past in the ocean it drowns.
Oh love and peace and joy He gave, and now I am forever free.
