Hi guys!! Today I decided to try Disney Parks Blog Eats recipe: Mickey Mouse Beignet! First and foremost I would like to thank: MooreGirl1 for the idea of making these tasty treats! She is writing a story called Jack´s Quest and it´s one of my favorite stories ever on Penana! You have to read it!!! I would also like to thank my Mom for letting me make these beignets and for helping me make them, it is really fun coming with you! She is my special guest for my blog post today (along with my dogs, papa, and sis). My Mom normally doesn´t like it when I ask her if I can bake, because well, let´s come to the truth... I bug her a lot when it comes to me baking! I mean who doesn´t want to bake every day? But my Mom was very happy that I was making Disneyland beignets this time! When my family heard that me and my Mom were making the beignets, everyone was so excited!! We love the beignets at Disneyland (especially at Cafe Orleans), so we´re really excited to have them later tonight! Also, here is the link to the recipe if you want to try it: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/04/disneymagicmoments-create-magical-mickey-mouse-shaped-beignets-at-home-with-this-fan-favorite-classic-disney-recipe/
Now let´s get to the baking part!! First, I washed my hands for a minute (got to be clean in the kitchen) and then I started to gather my ingredients! Next I got a yeast packet and got out 1/2 teaspoon of the yeast and added it with the water in a bowl. I then stirred it and watched it dissolve! It was kind of cool to watch! I let the yeast dissolve for 5 minutes. Within those 5 minutes, me and my Mom started to get the other ingredients into the bowl. Those ingredients were: sugar, shortening (we used vegetable oil shortening, I think it is better than regular shortening), salt, heavy cream, 1 egg (make sure to wash ur hands after cracking the egg, thank u mom for the reminder!:D), flour, and boiling water. To be honest, working with shortening is very hard to get off your tablespoons. If you want have a parent help you or a sibling! If nobody is willing to help you, I recommend that you use a spoon to help get it out! (Luckily I had my Mom to help). For the boiling water I used the microwave for 1 minute rather than using the stove. I think using the microwave is easier and quicker than using the stove. It just takes one minute in the microwave to get your boiling water rather than having boiling water from the stove! Also, in the end you´re going to use the stove with boiling hot water when your fry the beignets! Before you use the mixer, I recommend that you stir in the ingredients yourself. When I used the electric mixer, the flour was not mixed in with the dough that was already mixed together. Also when you use the mixer, it says to mix it at medium speed (which is level 4 on my mixer). When I started to mix the batter, I started at level 2, but when I decided to put it on level 4 the flour started to get out and parts of the dough! Side note: never have my dogs in the kitchen! Most of you guys know that I have chihuaha named Macerena and a daschund named Catsup. Well they were both in the room and the flour had spilled on Catsup´s Head! She did not seem to notice though! Also, when the dough spilled out, Catsup ate it!! Well she seemed to enjoy it, so I thought why not change her name to beignet? Also Catsup is okay!:D Anyways, back to the baking! Let the dough sit for 30 minutes..I know, I know- I hate waiting, too! But in that 30 minutes, I´m writing my blog write now and reading some stories!:D In a few minutes, I get to roll out the dough for the beignets!
Okay, I just finished rolling out the dough for the beignets and it was really fun!! Luckily my Mom found a mickey shaped cutter, so we could use that to cut the beignets! But if you don´t have a mickey shaped cutter, you can cut the beignets in 2 1/2 to 3 inch squares! When I was cutting the beignets, it was a little bit hard to get the dough off of the cutting board! And then I realized- oh my gosh!! I forgot the flour!!! My amazing mom got some flour for me and helped sprinkle it onto the cutting board. It was easier now to cut the mickey beignets! In this recipe you have 2 choices: (1: you can make 10 big mickey beignets, (2:you can make 2 dozen mickey beignets). I choose to make the 10 big mickey beignets, but it´s totally up to you and what you want to do!:D Once your done cutting cover the beignets with a towel and let the dough rise until doubled in size in a warm- draft-free area (1 to 1 1/2 hours). You guys know how much I hate waiting, but I´m deciding to let it double for 1 1/2 hours so that when the beignets are done in the fryer, they will be big and have the best outcome! I can´t wait to dig into the beignets and fry them! For some reason, it´s not working for uploading pics of the beignets!:( I have another blog site, which I will use to post the pictures of the food! I´m so sorry, guys! But I hope you like the pics! There´s going to be 2 posts of the pics: one of them the cookie cutter and one of them the finished products! Here is the link:http://giaratatouille.blogspot.com/
Back to the frying and the finished product!! To be honest, I'm still scared of deep frying! Or even being around the stove still, so my Mom was amazing and did the deep frying! She's even afraid of the deep frying because she once got a third degree burn! She did amazing deep frying the Mickey beignets! My Mom get a pan and put 3 inches of vegetable oil in the pan and placed one of the Mickey beignets in at a time. For each side of the beignet, we did 3 minutes. I think that you should do 3 minutes so that your beignet's get that "crispyness" on the outside. After we fryed some beignet, we put some sugar on top! I mean who doesn't have coffee, sugar, and beignet's together? Well to be honest, for me it's hot chocolate! When I bite into the beignet, I was in heaven!!! It was soooo gooooood!!! I felt like I was at Disneyland actually! My sister enjoyed the beignets aswell! This is what my sister said about the beignets,"that they're really good!"
My Papa said,"Wow! These are great! Do we have anymore?"My Mom agreeded that they were amazing, too! Okay time for the suggestions and the end of this blog!:( Lol, this was a really fun blog to write about! To make your cooking experience better, I recommend that you use flour when cutting out your beignets because they can get really sticky and stick to the cutting board, which can cause the shape of your beignets to break which means that you have to reform your beignet! To make your beignets taste even better I recommended that you have chocolate syrup with them, hot cocoa, or coffee!
Well my blog post is ending now!:( Thank you so much for reading my blog post today and I hope that you will try making Mickey Mouse Beignets at your own house!! If you do, please comment or DM me that you did because I love to hear what you guys think!!! Again, thank you so much MooreGirl1 and my mom for helping me come out with this blog post idea and for making making the beignets possible! In the end this beignets were so much fun to make, I give it a 100/100 rating!:D These beignets are great to have a desert, snack, breakfast, meal! Anything! Make sure to make these treats for your family or with them today! (the picture of the final product will be posted in a few minutes on the link up top, sorry it may take awhile to upload the pics!)
