“That all for today. Our company will collaborate with Taron Enterprises and we thank all the Executives for investing in this project.”
With that the meeting was over with a little after chat. Our current deal was with Mr. Edgar Taron, his company is on rise, booming in such a short span of time he managed to set a meeting with us and bring a impressive idea gaining an opportunity to work with established company such as ours. He is similar to my age, who knows maybe older, guys workout half a day and manage to look twenty years younger, unlike some of us. I shake hands with him and turn my way to the elevator.
“Good Morning. Ms. Bret.” Justin greets like every normal day as he spots me just in time and I wave him off like every other day and make my way down to the twenty-eighth floor where I can close myself within my office walls. The more I’ll be in public the more they’ll get the gossip to tag me - Ruthless.
It hadn’t been long I had consumed myself in catching up the backlog of mounting documents. Time flew by and take a break to stretch and order coffee with some snacks.
My secretary, Rina brings me my favourites, taking the coffee mug I stand near my glass wall window facing the city. Beyond the horizon, the sun illuminated the shimmering haze of pollution. In the far distance, the silhouette of the skyline pierced through the warm glow like a jagged mountain ridge. Millions of lights caused the dense mass of skyscrapers glitter. Blood cells like car flowing through the veins of the city. The city's youth off for a movie or to chill out in a smoky jazz bar downtown. I parted from that life earlier than necessary and focused on building my future alone, I don’t regret it. I’m standing above right now where slackers can’t reach, still there are skills I’m lacking that’s why bigger deals often slips from my hands and I can’t potentially climb up further. I sigh and rouse from my thoughts when my desk phone rings. Its Rina, “Ma’am, Ms. Davidson is asking for an appointment, tomorrow afternoon.” I scowl. Why does she to fix an appointment for her own daughter. She should’ve called me instead and order me to be present at the venue. Since when did it turned out this way? Why does she have to be like this? Why are we being like this?
“There’s no point asking. You agreed, right?”
“Off course, I had to ask you first.” She hesitates. “But since she had already Booked a hotel I saw no point in denying either.” Sometimes she spouts more than I can tolerate but this time I let her off the hook. “Good. Cancel all my tomorrow’s meetings.” She begins to panic going on about the delay and consequences but I cut the call before her gibberish reach my ears.
After my parents divorce mom won my custody, she’s strict so she didn’t let me drop out of my high school when I insisted being the odd one out, which I’m thankful for and I continued till I received my University degree, I left my mom and continue at my dad’s place, in his company, to gain experience. I had been learning from him as a part time during my early years so I can say I am Comparatively close to my dad, but I crave my mom’s attention the same. So when I got busy with my business, she expanded her studio into a brand.
Maybe then, we drifted apart.
I left home at noon and checked in before time at Millennial Kilton, the hotel we were supposed to meet up in.
I took a seat, waiting on one of the restaurant’s table. Patiently ticking my nails against the table after ordering a drink for myself eyeing every comer from past ten minutes. And then I spotted.. Edgar! Must be here for some business meeting. His eyes took in every detail of the hall and all his movements stopped when his eyes rest on me.
Wait..why is he walking in this direction?
I look back. There are a few couples sitting at the end by the window, yeah He must be after one of those. I turn front and he was there! At my face!
God! He’s so intimidating. That look as if I am at the wrong, if I won’t show confidence I’ll feel like a loser or like his obedient subordinate.
“What a coincidence! Ms. Davidson, Nice meeting you here. A Client meet?”
I stood up, taking his hand I shook it. “Likewise.” I like to keep it short but his Browns are still focused on me. “Actually, my mom is going to join me in a while.” He nodded satisfied as his curiosity has been answered.
My phone rings, “Hello.” My mom answers and my eyes settle on Edgar on whim. “I’m..here.” I say very slowly, at a loss for what to say further after hearing her voice. “Actually something came up. It’ll take time for me to finish. How about we done together instead?”
“Yeah! Sounds nice. I’ll be waiting!” I agree quickly on whatever is comfortable with. “Thank you so much, Bret.” And she cuts the call.
This man hasn’t left yet. So not to make it more uncomfortable I ask him his purpose for being here. “I’m here on inspection. I brought this Hotel recently but didn’t have time to look into it closely.” He explains, I notice we were actually sitting right now and he was sipping on coffee. I nod taking the sight in. He’s too good to be casually chatting with me And so above me to be owning this four star place. “How did you get the owner to sell this?” I ask Amazed. In the middle of the city, it is generating fortune. “Maybe the owner was too generous.” He shrugged and his smirk followed. I manage to creep up a smile suppressing my anger. Yeah right! All wise men say the same.
Why not take a swim and enjoy theatre now that I got my day off?
“So I’ll be off to my room then. Thanks for accompanying me.” I stand Holding out my hand for a handshake. Thanks my ass! I just want to escape you.
“Your mom’s not coming?” he asks holding holding my hand firm in place instead. I freeze. What?
“Ah- No. Um she’ll be joining me for dinner though.” I stumble with the words because of his bold move but only the truth comes out. Damn his tricks!
“So you’re not going back?”
“No. I’ll be staying for a day.” He strokes his thumb on the back of my palm and a stroke of shiver courses down my body.
“Alone?” I meet his beautiful expectant orbs and there goes my reputation “Excuse me?”
“I mean we can check out the place together.” He squeezes my hand and then lets go standing up, buttoning his lower two buttons of his coat. I gulp rubbing my own hand and he eyes me doing just that “If you’re free that is.” He adds with a knowing smile, at this point My face is flaring crimson red all for I know. I don’t know whether he is playing with me or challenging me but I took the bait. “yeah, Sure. Let’s meet up after I change.” He nodded and I surpass him before he gets the chance to lead the way, I know where my room is!
I should take this as a learning experience for me. Better pounce on this chance. Hotel management is an area beyond my expertise.
In the end I decided to avoid him. Not that he was anywhere to be seen on my way up.
I change into my bathrobe with a swimsuit underneath and make my way to the terrace pool. As I expected, only two to three people taking a sunbath. Afterall It’s a lucky weekday.
I lay back lotioned on the beach chair, having the best time of the day until the problem decides to show himself.
Where can I hide??
I look at my right and then left, All chairs are empty. I groan slouching down further.
“Not again!” he roars out a mocking laugh thinking it’s funny and I muster up a smile for my project's sake. He looks so happy, I genuinely want to smash his face, he is that handsome.
“Sorry. I am present everywhere to ruin your fun.” I laugh when I actually wish to add the sarcasm.
He stands next to the pool in front of me and starts to undress. I shamelessly openly gawk at him. His defining abs glistening under the sun, he had swimming trunks beneath the layer of his trousers I hadn’t known. He tosses his clothes to the side and my eyes sparkle at the opportunity. I dash towards him and hit his back, which caused him to slip and fall into the pool. He surfaces brushing his hair back from his face. Laughing hysterically, with tears running down my face, I cross my arms over my stomach in an attempt to catch my breath. My laugh was contagious, and to me it sounded more like an evil cackle than an expression of amusement. I look at his no nonsense expression glowering at me and I burst into fits of Laughter again. He was grinning too, at least his eyes were smiling. When I regained my composure he was already standing beside me. “I hope it wasn’t too cold in there.” I think it’s heated but I had to tease him.
He says nothing and only steps a little too close killing my amusement and to my surprise lifts me up, “Why not check for yourself?” and he Tosses me to the pool.
I wipe my face and my ruined styled hairs.
This! Is! Not! Funny! I glare at him. A coy smile plays at his lips, his eyes beaming at me. “You are so Gone now!” I bellow. He raises a brow, his smirk in place and walk backwards then runs in this direction and with a jump he dives right in splashing all the water on me. Again.
It wasn’t just a splash. It was a downpour!
I hurl at him the moment he comes up the water to breathe. I clasp my legs around his neck but he is fast enough grabbing my thighs he dove back in with me, my grip loosen and he turns and took the chance to Grab my waist instead, now I was facing him nose to nose, his eyes dark and he’s too large to hold all of him at a time, I throw my arms around him for balance, I am starting to notice how muscular he is, I was at a loss of ideas now. I was calming down now, I become aware, aware of his touch. He is touching me too much, too many places. I never let anyone touch me. And this sequence of touching each other, I started. I am feeling him, I am not annoyed at him but angry at myself for liking what he is doing to me.
I didn’t realise this whole time we were laughing and cheering are lungs out. We competed which one of us can bold our breath underwater for longer and who wins the race etcetera etc.
“This trip might not be as boring as I thought.” He takes a seat on the chair next to me and faces me instead of the pool. “Thanks to you.” comes his smile. I purse my lips. Wrong feelings, wrong place, wrong man. Smouldering, I crack a smile. “honestly. I don’t think I could have enjoyed this day alone any better either.” Our drinks and food arrive and we lay back sharing our hilarious incidents from day to day life.
In between laughs afternoon had faded and I realise it’s going to be dinner time soon.
We bid our goodbyes though he still had work to do here.
Changing into my casuals I made my way down to the restaurant area when it was time. Around this time the hall was bustling, I spotted the table where an elder elegant lady sat with a beautiful designed jewellery around her bare neck. That was my mom. When does she not wear her own works. With afresh bounce to my step I start towards her but as I closer and I get a better view of her surrounding I find Allie sitting next to her, her apprentice. Her favourite, closest to her. Like a second daughter to her. Slight bitterness coat my tongue. My excitement had disappeared.
“Hello maa. How have you been?”
“Great actually. I believe know Allie?” her forehead creased trying to remember our childhood, for this girl? She sips her drink
I smile at the outsider. “Yes. How can I forget Allie.” I turn to mom. “She use to spend her whole day in our house. Especially with you, momma.” I laugh and they both smile. Her long silky black hairs and sharp eyes, I have developed a hate towards that kind but my mom appreciates her so I can’t object her either.
If my nose is flaring right now, don’t blame me. I was expecting a lone time with my mom. She butted in.
Everytime I use to ask mom to step out of the house I’d always find Allie beside mom, either they are working together on some project or she’s teaching something out of my arena of interest. Both the girls are all about beauty, art and products. I on the other hand a money chaser, obsessed with programming and management. I never fitted the school crowd and sucked at maintaining relations as well.
Waiter appears for taking orders and I say mine “Wine please.”
My mom objects, “before meal?” Allie stays quiet, observing our exchange.
“I’m not hungry.”
“Oh.. Okay.”
She doesn’t even try to convince me.
“How is your dad?”
“We haven’t talked in a while.” Can you guess how much while has it been? Generally children who are close to their parent would know what are their folks are upto. I don’t. We have become so busy, our calls limited to business.
Who knew the business I thought would become a bridge of connection between us turned out to be the expanding valley of our relations.
“Oh okay. I guess he must be doing just fine.” She says casually and takes a bite from her plate and so does her companion.
Allie lips are naturally curled into a smile I can never tell what she’s thinking.
“I forgot to tell you one of our clients demanded their order early, their wedding got scheduled ahead of time because it was clashing with the other function and so Allie being my helper in this project she had to tag along too, I booked her flight with me and brought her along to meet you, thinking why not return together too?”
And thought to adjust me in between your schedule? I was gritting my teeth by now. You brought her along.
“Yeah. Two birds, one stone.” Gloomy, I say in support. I was running my finger along the rim of my glass, not even interested in the drink.
“Exactly!” she chirps. She is glowing and noticeably looks more cheerful than she was right after the separation.
Certainly my memories with her doesn’t remind her of the good time. She didn’t even ask how I was, only dad, she’s not really bothered to know about his wellbeing either but her early good memories are sure attached with him. Her underlying love for him Is instinctive.
I lie at the boundary. Not on her particularly good side neither her bad side.
My jaw clenches. She only met me because I happen to be present on the way she is passing by because of urgent work.
How ironic.
My throat becomes dry but just to keep listening her voice I ask her random questions.
Allie must’ve gotten bored because she excuses herself to visit the restroom. Finally getting the chance, I ask mom the real Questions, the questions that've been bugging me since long.
“Don’t you miss me?”
She slows down her eating and that old expression befalls her face. “Yes. I do, Bret.” She says quietly.
“Why can’t you call me then?”
“I thought you’d be busy, darling. Don’t take it to heart, my baby. Be mature, okay?”
“I’m fuckin’ Mature! alright?” maybe that came out a little loud. Her eyes widen a fraction and I tsk muttering under my breath “damnit!”
“When you were just a little girl I tried to build a bond between us. But you always seem to be occupied with something beyond my understanding, you use to be happy when you were engrossed in your virtual life, I didn’t interfere. But as you started growing older you got busy with your life so much so you stopped picking my calls. It’s your growing period and I don’t wish to distract you either, so this time after mustering up some courage I contacted your office. I’m trying to talk all the odds so you don’t feel awkward with us. It’s my opportunity too.” Tears were brimming her eyes and her nose, cherry. I swallow a lump in my throat.
“I..I-” I stammer, she cuts in. “It’s okay. Drink some water.” She flashes a misty-eyed smile and I melt picking the glass of water.
I felt a push on my elbow and all the water spills over my dress. I turn around just as quickly as I rise from my chair, stunned.
Allie stood there, right in front of me. I catch her eyes flicker just before she veiled herself in sympathizing look. Maybe it’s just me or my resentment towards her or what, but Something ticked in me, I explode right after she says sorry making a sorry face.
“Who The Fuck You Think You Are?”
Mom rushes to my side, whispering. “she apologized right? Have it in your heart to forgive people, yeah?”
She defending her?
I ignore her plea attracting everyone’s attention. “You fuckin’ third wheel!” I don’t stop and her lips form a thin line proving me a mental case in front of the public.
She keeps repeating her apology and I, my curses and her faults.
Until, Edgar arrives on scene and goes on about cooling down in the background but we go on I am deafened by the rush of blood buzzing in my ears, she playing the victim card with tranquillity, so in the end scooping me off the floor he exits excusing us from the crowd formed and ordering the workers to manage the rest.
I couldn’t even say a proper bye to her. Yet I didn’t protest on the contrary I tighten my hold around his neck, I wanted to run away and hide myself in the attic or under the blanket and cry my heart out.
He doesn’t know my room number maybe he didn’t even wanted to ask me, so he just carries me to his and deposits me on his bed.
“I’ll be right back taking care of some matters. You stay in the room.” I nod curling into a ball, if he sees he knows I am listening. “Good.” And I hear the door click shut. So he was watching me.
I am Mortified.
Laying flat on my stomach I grown. WHY!??
I turn again and found a whiskey bottle on the bedside table.
A Few minutes later~
I am mumbling the words I don’t understand, but each memory is clear in my head.
I go look at my pale reflection in the bathroom mirror, taking support of the sink to stand straight. It’s blurry.
“Bret!” a young man’s voice drags me to him. He’s clear, new to my brain too.
Maybe he suspects I’m drunk. “yea Tipsy girl.” He remarks massaging his head then rolling up his sleeves he drags me to sit on the edge of the bed squats at my feet. “Listen-“
His phone rings, He picks up the call but didn’t walk away.
“…”
“Yes. This weekend, meeting in Florida.”
“…”
“Hardly one hour to fix the deal.”
“…”
“He decided the place, not me.”
“…”
“No. You have to be present on time. I can’t do it without you.”
“…”
“yeah. See you.” Cuts the call and he focus back to me again.
Bad for him. I heard a bit of what that side person was concerned about.
“Gerald Mark? Trying to establish a cooperation with his corporation?” I ask not believing.
He nods. I might be drunk but that man left a scar on my labour.
“That man?” I repeat baffled. He nods amused again.
“He rejected Me. My Proposal!” flustered I say raising my voice, my drunkenness also in effect. It’s a huge company and as a representative of my company, I occupied every resources he might need and went on a site check myself. Prepared everything beforehand and right in front of me, before everyone else he announced his cooperation with a rivalling company. It was a huge hit to my respect and reputation. People in my circle started to voice their criticism on Me being a girl and on a high position with privilege. Such an insult to face. Why I am cruel right now has a lot to do with it.
He only smiles. “My team will make this happen. I believe in our strength, I’ll make it happen. You bet!” he winks.
He says confident holding my hands down in a firm grip, I am waving them unaware.
“I bet!” I shout.
He narrows his eyes. “Lets get you to sleep. What’s your room number?” he gets up and pulls my arm so I get on my feet too.
“No! you can’t run away! It’s a bet! You’re loosing!” I holler removing his hand and pointing at him.
“O yea?” he raises an eyebrow as if something struck him. He straighten as if challenged and ready to fire up.
Mr. Mark needs something extraordinary and Edgar’s company still on rise can’t reach him. My confidence is triggered and his challenged.
He dials to someone, “Come up.” And hangs up as quickly.
“What?” unsure I ask. “Lets do it a proper way. Contractual manner.”
He sits on the sofa and I fall back on bed. In minutes a knock on the door and Edgar allows the man with briefcase in.
He took it on a whole new level, now I can’t even back down now.
“How did you get a lawyer to come so fast?” clutching on the sheets I ask.
“He happened to be here as well.” He answers casually.
Or does he bring his aids wherever he goes..?
Headache was forming. The Hangover was getting to me.
Can we do this some other day?
Everything began moving in slow motion.
I used more than adequate energy in drunken brawl.
“So what will you do if you loose?”
“I’ll fuckin’ MARRY YOU!!” I jump using all my energy in this one sentence which holds my honour.
Because I stand by my statement.
I hear his faint voice, he’s telling me to think again. I shake my head. I no longer know why.
He rushes over to me, shakes my shoulders, Lifts my head to make me look at him. I’ll vomit. Stop it!
I feel too lazy to open my mouth. Moving more than an inch has become too difficult, so I stop overall.
“Alright! That’s enough. Stop it here. Call the doctor! She’s not okay. She’s burning.”
“fuckin’ you never drank before?” he mutters under his breath.
Rest is history~
Following day my eyes adjust to my room and my hurt like a bitch!
I bath feverish and check out of the hotel and straight to home then office.
Later that afternoon Rina bursted in while at work and slammed a folder of documents on my table. “What is this Bret!? What were thinking?”
Her audacity.
But to think her unusual behaviour before talking to her I better Thought to look at what’s inside.
‘If Party B wins, Party A will do one thing whatever Party B desires and demands her wish fulfilled. If Party B Looses, Party A will Marry Party B.’
Details and more details in next five pages. I forgot to breathe for until I flipped the pages again and yet again.
“How?”
“Why?”
I mutter to my unbelievable ears.
“Exactly!!” rina roars and I flinch.
I scratch with my nails on the paper where my signature verified I accept all the terms and conditions.
My sign beside. Edgar Taron's!
It’s all real.
I remember I met him at the Millennial Kilton and
The previous Night!
“I challenged him!” I say realising.
“And this happened!?” she snatched the papers from me.
“What should I do now?” huffing she asks, knowing she can’t really deal with me.
“Just keep it a secret, please.” I practically beg her and she storms out leaving me alone in abyss.
She sends me another copy of the legal documents and I reread the hell if I try to get away what penalties I’ll have to Pay.
I called him. “Whats this?”
“You don’t remember?”
“No” I say dragging the word as obvious.
“Okay. You stopped responding and suddenly you sat up and like a Boss you ordinated Everything. Whatever the term are in the contract, it’s your doing. Infact, when Ben, my lawyer tried to stop you to make it so sophisticated and complicated. You. Slapped. him. And when he grabbed your shirt in reflex you passed out yourself.”
Fuck! What in the actual hell have I done!!
“And were You doing?”
“I was busy laughing..appreciating your talent I mean. ” he scoffs. “Man! It’s like some spirit took over you. You’re actually very talented. Has I been not there I couldn’t have discovered this beautiful side of you.” He says, adding to my embarrassment.
“Be ready, my bride. Soon I’ll make your wish come true.” I opened my mouth to object but he hung up.
He’s a really nice guy. It’s like finding a diamond in the rough. But I’m not capable for him. I can’t get a hang of myself and..him?
A week had passed and my current problem remains the same.
I bet he’ll think of something to sever our ties. He’s just scaring me with this, fooling me like always, Trying to make me crazy and after having fun he’ll be out with his trick.
I check for news daily and share market.
My phone buzzed. The caller ID had my heart rate pace up.
“Hello?”
“Bret?” Came Edgar’s deep voice. When he says like that it feels like forever I've been waiting for this call, just to hear him say my name like honey rolling off his tongue.
Wait!
Come back to senses mila. This is not the time.
Think!
One can be overly nice to their Rival only if...
“Meet me at the By-Callor Coffee shop at two. I think the God’s are on your side these days, lucky girl.” off the wall, he cuts the call.
Blood drains from my face.
"Rina!" I scream and she hops over to me, disheveled. "Yes. Ma'am." She replies with same urgency matching my tone.
"Any updates regarding the contract?"
"No. Ma'am."
"Where have Taron Enterprise signed deals lately?"
"I didn't know I had to look that deep into the Tarons."
"Well. Why not?" I seethed. Roasting her under my gaze.
"You didn't pre-informed me, Ma'am." She says so loud it sounded she's scolding me. I think she also made a face but I was late to catch it. Before I could lecture her on her attitude she spins on her heels "I'll be back with the report." And out the door she marched.
Not five minutes had passed she storms into the room and skies over to my table and shoves her tablet onto my face flashing magnified news to my eyes.
I was more in a hurry to swallow down the news than to scold her right now. My eyes zeroed in to the scary news which confirmed my yet another failure. Such a huge shock it was to me. I was fuckin' palpitating.
"Quick! Check my pulse..blood pressure! I'm going to faint." I wipe my cold sweat massaging my head, She runs down the hall nodding to me. "And Hey! DON'T call the Doctor!" I add with all the remaining energy left in me.
I stormed out of my building with rina running behind me carrying the documents. She’ll sit in the car until I need her. Prepping myself on how I will save my face I rear the engine when it was time.273Please respect copyright.PENANAUfcpd9Ynjr
I spotted him in one of table near the window wall.
“Hey. How are you?” I say pulling the chair opposite to him to sit, starting conversation with a light question would be better than jumping on the main bomb straight.
“Cool. Actually Take a seat here.” He Pats on the chair he pulled out beside him.
Confused I already was, without giving much thought I rounded the table to sit beside him. At this point it’s better I put my brain to sleep mode.
“So, from past week you kept thinking about me?” he questions out of nowhere after I place my order.
“As if.” I snort fixing my gaze on the street.
“You have a lot you don’t want to share. I thought we were friends already.” A hint of sadness he continues to flatter himself.
“We need to do more to be friends.”
“like what?”
I think before answering, not like I have friends. “Like hang out, share and do stuff together..you know.”
“Then let me be your one bestfriend for lifetime. Mila.” He leans over to my side and I go even more confused.
More customers flooded in and my eyes went wide when I saw my mom and dad together, coming this way. Towards me. I stood up on instinct. My throat clogged up.
“Hello Mr and Mrs Davidson. Thank you for taking out time for us. I hope my silly request didn’t trouble you much.” He shakes hands with both of them and I remain frozen in place, my hands covering my mouth.
“Whats trouble for my own daughter.” My dad laughs as he makes the joke.
“We’re glad you thought of us before such an auspicious occasion.” My mom chuckles.
I feel so blessed having another opportunity to see them together, side by side, old and with me…this time my future husband has joined the family tree. Something flared in me for him.
I look deep in his eyes and so does he when he catches me I don’t hide my admiration. In this moment I’m thanking him.
I never thought I’d be able to see them together and at peace.
He did all this. For me. How and why ..I don’t know anything more.
My dad coughs. I turn to him, flustered.
We chat..About everything we missed on eachother.
I get to know more about Edgar, The hidden him, the him I still am not aware of, we will discover each other at much deeper level as we step together, in future.
It feels like family. It was so easy to mix up.. just flowing with feelings.
At last, when they leave after he asks for their permission for marriage and they agree wholeheartedly with a toast.
He asks, when we’re left all alone. “Im not perfect. I’m not a good person but I’ll try to be a better husband. Just spare me a little place in your heart..just, one-fourth Is enough.”
What sounded like a proposal had me dumbfounded. This man keeps bringing me to tears. His heavy voice gives me Goosebumps. Maybe I took too long to reply he shuns.
“I’ll love you. But I want you to love me back, with interest.” I say after a moment when I digest his extra sweet words holding his face up to meet my eyes. “Deal?” I raise my brows, A slow smile works its way across my face and into my eyes.
His eyes shine, then smouldering dark. “Deal.” Comes his horse whisper. He hugs me instantly, so tight he almost lifted me up and kissed me desperate.
Things went slow and smooth after that. But days after, he lifted the topic again when we we’re selecting the venue for holding our marriage ceremony. “If you’re not okay. And doing this just because of this contract. I’ll drop this. You don’t have to force yourself.”
He continues, “I just went along with the paperwork because the challenge keeps my spirit up. Boosts me to work harder. Builds pressure only success is way out. Putting you in jeopardy wasn’t my intention” For a moment I felt hurt but then I see the deeper side of it. “I love you. But not this piece of paper being the reason. Honestly, when you proposed the idea of marriage it had me so worked up I entered bigger deals just to get you. But I crave your true self, your heart.” He must’ve ruminated about this for long to be voicing this now.
So I say what is right and not my emotions on impulse. “I’m beginning to fall for you now. Dismissing the contract won’t change my feelings.”
Nothing else matters.
Months after marriage, The other day I had to speak on the podium addressing the public for our new launch. He had been there.
I messes up, but was there, present. I shrank but he came up from the backstage only to whisper, “Relax, I have your back.” And all my confidence returned full force. The criticism from outsiders continues but my permanent kept me going, always saying,
“I want us to grow together. Like partners. We support each other and stay strong.”
And Everyday he makes me fall for him a little more.
