The light inside the glass

Upturned, then shattered

Once holding all our pennies,

Pennies holding dreams.

We saved our money for some

New destiny

Said you would leave this place

I did not know you meant

No longer a "we" in sight

Just an I and me

No you or we.

You who shone with

An unmatched brilliance

You who danced under the trees

And sang in the soft light of dawn

You who now dance among stars

And sings in the evening of life

You who had to fight

You who lost

Now I know

What you meant when you said

You were never mine,

Not forever.
