“That all for today. Our company will collaborate with Taron Enterprises and we thank all the Executives for investing in this project.”
With that the meeting was over with a little after chat. Our current deal was with Mr. Edgar Taron, his company is on rise, booming in such a short span of time he managed to set a meeting with us and bring a impressive idea gaining an opportunity to work with established company such as ours. He is similar to my age, who knows maybe older, guys workout half a day and manage to look twenty years younger, unlike some of us. I shake hands with him and turn my way to the elevator.
“Good Morning. Ms. Mila.” Justin greets like every normal day as he spots me just in time and I wave him off like every other day and make my way down to the twenty-eighth floor where I can close myself within my office walls. The more I’ll be in public the more they’ll get the gossip to tag me - Ruthless.
It hadn’t been long I had consumed myself in catching up the backlog of mounting documents. Time flew by and take a break to stretch and order coffee with some snacks.
My secretary, Rina brings me my favourites, taking the coffee mug I stand near my glass wall window facing the city. Beyond the horizon, the sun illuminated the shimmering haze of pollution. In the far distance, the silhouette of the skyline pierced through the warm glow like a jagged mountain ridge. Millions of lights caused the dense mass of skyscrapers glitter. Blood cells like car flowing through the veins of the city. The city's youth off for a movie or to chill out in a smoky jazz bar downtown. I parted from that life earlier than necessary and focused on building my future alone, I don’t regret it. I’m standing above right now where slackers can’t reach, still there are skills I’m lacking that’s why bigger deals often slips from my hands and I can’t potentially climb up further. I sigh and rouse from my thoughts when my desk phone rings.
Its Rina, “Ma’am, Ms. Davidson is asking for an appointment, tomorrow afternoon.” I scowl. Why does she to fix an appointment for her own daughter. She should’ve called me instead and order me to be present at the venue. Since when did it turned out this way? Why does she have to be like this? Why are we being like this?
“There’s no point asking. You agreed, right?”
“Off course, I had to ask you first.” She hesitates. “But since she had already Booked a hotel I saw no point in denying either.”
Sometimes she spouts more than I can tolerate but this time I let her off the hook. “Good. Cancel all my tomorrow’s meetings.” She begins to panic going on about the delay and consequences but I cut the call before her gibberish reach my ears.
After my parents divorce mom won my custody, she’s strict so she didn’t let me drop out of my high school when I insisted being the odd one out, which I’m thankful for and I continued till I received my University degree, I left my mom and continue at my dad’s place, in his company, to gain experience. I had been learning from him as a part time during my early years so I can say I am Comparatively close to my dad, but I crave my mom’s attention the same. So when I got busy with my business, she expanded her studio into a brand.
Maybe then, we drifted apart.
I left home at noon and checked in before time at Millennial Kilton, the hotel we were supposed to meet up in.
I took a seat, waiting on one of the restaurant’s table. I patiently ticked my nails against the table after ordering a drink for myself eyeing every comer from past ten minutes. And then I spotted..
Edgar! Must be here for some business meeting. His eyes took in every detail of the hall and all his movements stopped when his eyes rest on me.
Wait..why is he walking in this direction? 974Please respect copyright.PENANAX9cZBnL4zq
I look back. There are a few couples sitting at the end by the window, yeah He must be after one of those. I turn front and he was there! At my face!
God! He’s so intimidating. That look as if I am at the wrong, if I can’t show confidence I’ll feel like a loser or like his obedient subordinate
“What a coincidence! Ms. Davidson, Nice meeting you here. A Client meet?”
I stood up, taking his hand I shook it. “Likewise.” I like to keep it short but his Browns are still focused on me. “Actually, my mom is going to join me in a while.” He nodded satisfied as his curiosity has been answered.
