The boy with the brilliant red hair sat down by the sand pits.

He stared out longingly across the nursery playground at all the children playing with their new friends.

His parents always said he was too shy - and it was true that he would never get anywhere in this state.

Perhaps his life had always been doomed from the very beginning...

A boy with long green hair tied up in a ponytail came up to him.

"Hi." He said.

"Hello..."

"What's your name?"

"Mark."

"I'm Cassidy."

Mark stared up at him with emerald-green eyes.

"Do you want to play something?" Cassidy continued. "What do you like to play?"

"Um... swings, slides... anything!"

"Hey, me too!"

Cassidy jumped up in the air. Then he held out his hand.

"Come on, how about the climbing frame?"

"That... was fun..." Cassidy panted between breaths.

"Yep..." Mark replied.

They looked at each other.

"I like you," Cassidy said suddenly.

"And I like you as well."

"Let's be friends!" Cassidy said with excitement.

Mark felt excited as well.

"Friends! Best friends!"

"Forever!"

They giggled.
