Today is the day. I will talk to him. I repeated in my head as I made my way to the back of the bus, where no one ever dares to sit except him. Every single day for the past month I've been admiring the same god-like man. Always so mysterious and brooding.
"Hi" I blurted, feeling my cheeks flush as I stood in front of him.
At first, he just stared back at me, confusion spread across his face when I didn't retreat. I repeated myself.
His face went dark, the once beautiful man now looked fearsome, "You shouldn't be able to see me, somethings wrong.'' He lept from his seat and scanned the bus. 507Please respect copyright.PENANAHplCeJg7Jw
"What the hell are you talking about man?"
He turned his attention back to me. "My dear, I'm the devil. There is no reason for you to be seeing me right now. I haven't allowed it."
I scrunched my face in disbelief. "I have no idea what you are talking about." I snapped, turning to walk away when I felt a searing hot pain on my wrist. I let out a scream and I yanked my wrist to my chest examining my injury. My wrist was blood red and inflamed as if I was gripped by the hands of hell. 507Please respect copyright.PENANASiJ0b6A2mL
"Are you alright Miss?" The bus driver yelled.
"Yes, I'm sorry. I'm fine." I breathed. I waved to him with my non-wounded hand.
"My apologies, the pain won't last. Don't leave until I figure this out. Please sit." He coaxed, his voice melodic.
I followed his instruction before I consciously processed what he said.
"Are you really the devil, like satan?"
"The one and only."
"What would the devil being doing on public transportation in Chicago?"
"I have a lot of work to do here."
"For a month straight, every day at the same time? Why?"
"I would appreciate it if you would stop asking questions."
I let him have a few moments of silence as my brain swirled with questions.
"Am I dead or something?"
"Definitely not dead, I would know if you were. Perhaps you will die soon. Although normally I can feel when death is near, and I don't feel it around you. It seems as though you are just something."507Please respect copyright.PENANAZAU7j0NsiI
"Next stop, Northwestern University " the automated bus lady voice interrupted.
"Oh, that's my stop, I have to go." I grabbed my bag and stood up.
"Don't worry, I'll see you again."
"I don't find that comforting, sir."
"Please call me Lucifer."
"That either."
"And your name?"
"Lilith."507Please respect copyright.PENANAXv1PI4VpjR
