The sound of swords clashing together echoed throughout the room. Olympia tightened her hands around the sword and charged towards the knight. He put his sword up in defense so that she wouldn’t hit him. Their sword clashed once again, this time making Olympia fall back onto the floor.
“Olympia just because you have a sword doesn’t mean you can’t use other parts of your body,” her father said walking into the field.
She got up from the ground dusting the dirt of her pants. “Yes father.”
Olympia gave the knight back the sword and thanked him for the lesson. She followed her father into the castle, her father telling her to use her hands and feet while fighting. They made their way into the dinning room where the rest of the family was waiting for them.
“How was training?” her mother asked, as she sat down at the table. Olympia explained to her mother what went down.
Her father had started to make Olympia train right after she turned 16. Olympia was the youngest of five children. The reason her father made her train at a young age was because of how different she was from her siblings. When Olympia was born she was blessed by the moon ‘goddess’. However, nobody knew what the goddess had blessed her with.
Breakfast went on quickly with the talking and laughing going on. Olympia excused herself from the table and headed to the archive. She picked out a book she had been reading for a while. The word “Magic” was written as soon as you opened the book, and it fascinated her. The book went on to describe different creatures, and powers that they had.
Olympia had found the book one day as she was trying to find something to read. She had started reading, fascinated by how the creatures were being described. She spent hours reading and rereading chapters of the book.
After a while, Olympia decided to find her father and ask him about the book. She wanted to know why the book was in the archive if their kingdom wasn’t known for people and creatures having magic.
“Excuse me, but do you know where my father is?” She asked one of the passing knights. He gave her a quick “no” and walked away.
She made her way towards her father's meeting room to see if she could find him there. Olympia opened the doors to be met with an empty room yet not so empty. It felt as if someone was watching her. She quickly closed the door not liking the feeling of being watched.
Olympia made her way towards her bedroom, deciding to ask her father later on. She could still sense the feeling that she was being watched. Once she reached her room, she took a quick look around the halls to see if anyone was there. Not seeing anyone, she made her way into her room, closing the door behind her.
She placed the book on her bed, as she looked out the window. How she wished she could go out into town and explore. She placed her hand on the glass, thinking if she wanted to sneak into town or ask a guard or knight to go with her.
She had snuck into town a few times, but she didn’t want to risk getting caught. She took one more look out into the town. Olympia looked around her room thinking of something to do. She had already read the book a million times and she had to wait until tomorrow for training.
A knocked from the door was heard and then a piece of paper was slipped under. Olympia made her way towards the door and picked up the piece of paper. The word ‘soon’ was written on it. Olympia opened the door to see if anyone would be standing there, but there was no one.
The sound of footsteps made her quickly put the note into her pocket. “Is there something wrong my lady?” one of the guards asked. She shook her head no and made her way down the hall.
Olympia drowned in her own thoughts. Thinking about the book, asking her father and the note. She stopped in her tracks realizing that she was in the courtyard. She let out a sigh and just walked around.
A few seconds later her older brother came into view. She gave him a smile as he walked over towards her. “Is something the matter?” he asked her. She shook her head no. Olympia knew that her brother knew something was wrong. They were the closest out of all their brothers and sisters.
“Do you ever think that I could go into town without any guards?” she asked her brother. He bent down picking a flower before heading it to her. She kindly took the flower, bringing up to smell it.
“Have you asked father about it?” He asked instead of answering her. Olympia let out a small chuckle just thinking about it. She knew well that her father would never let her go alone no matter how much she begged him. Her brother gave her a pat on the shoulder before heading back inside the castle.
Olympia layed down looking up at the sky. She smiled thinking how nice it would be just to be a normal person. The feeling of being free and not having everyone looking at you and waiting for what you might do. She looked at the flower one more time before throwing it to the side.
Olympia closed her eyes, feeling the gentle cool breeze on her face. She felt the leaves land on her arms as she started to doze off. The sun was setting which made the breeze feel cooler. The sound of the bell ringing and knights running made Olympia get up quickly.
She got up and ran towards the castle to see what was going on. Knights ran left and right yelling and screaming. Olympia couldn’t understand a single word that was being said. She made her way further into the castle trying to find her father.
A had grabbed her arm making her stop in her tracks. She looks to see her brother holding onto her arm. “What is going on?” she asked, a bit scared. Her brother pulled her towards the dining room not responding to her question.
“Is everything ok?” she asked once she saw her mother. Tears running down her mothers face and everyone else looked scared. Olympia looked around seeing her father come into the room. “Is everything ok?” She asked once again.
“We are being attacked. They have already broken down the gate. Some have already made their way into the castle.” he stated.
A shock of fear came crashing over Olympia. She stumbled back a bit trying to process what was going on. Is this what they meant by soon? Every thought came rushing into her head thinking about the note.
An explosion was heard making the whole castle shake. Her father took her hands into his, handing her a small blade. “You keep this in case anything happens.” he said to her. The sounds of swords clashing together echo through the whole room.
Olympia could see the knights fighting. Body after bodys fell down on the floor sending shivers down her spine.
“Run.” her father whispered to her, getting her attention. She shook her head no, not understanding what he meant. “What about everyone?” she said looking at her mother, brothers and sisters.
“We will be fine, you run and get as far away as possible!” he said to her. Olympia felt the tears fall down her face as she shook her head.”RUN!” her father yelled.
She took one last look at him before she bolted out of the room. She didn’t look back knowing that if she did it would only slow her down. Olympia stopped in her tracks as one of the invaders were heading towards her. She took a deep breath remembering her training.
He charged at her, making her take a step back. She remembered the small blade her father gave her. He tried to charge at her again but she grabbed him by the arm and pushed the small blade into his throat. She pulled the blade out quickly, taking a step back as the body dropped to the floor.
Olympia didn’t have time to process what happened as she heard yelling behind her. “There she goes! Quickly before she gets away!”
She grabbed the sword and the small blade and ran out into the courtyard. She looked around trying to find a place to hide but there was nowhere. Hearing the footsteps come nearer she decided to climb up the walls of the courtyard.
Olympia looked down seeing the steeped hill on the other side. She looked back seeing the invaders come into view. She took a deep breath before jumping down, rolling down the hill. She came to a stop as her back hit something.
The pain ran through her body as she laid there for a few seconds. “Hurry she might get away!” she heard them say. Olympia quickly got up still feeling the pain on her back. She grabbed the small blade and sword and made her way into town.
Left and right houses were being burned. She quickly made her way into an alley not wanting to be seen. Olympia stopped and rested her back against the wall trying to catch her breath. Screams filled her ears as she saw a little girl and her father try to fight off the invaders.
Before she could even think of what to do she ran their way and tried to help. She swung her sword, cutting the invaders head in the process. “Thank you!” he said before grabbing his daughter and running off.
Olympia continued her way into the alley, helping people there and then. She looked up to the once beautiful sky now filled with black smoke. It was getting a bit hard to breath, as the smoke was getting thicker. Stopping to catch her breath once again she saw flames.
They were quite different from the normal ones. Olympia moved towards them but stopped to think if she should or not. She quickly ran towards them, being sure not to get caught by the invaders.
Olympia rounded the corner to be met with Fenicc and a small dragon. She had read about them in her books but never thought that they actually existed. He had dark red fur, and brown eyes. His tail and ears were tipped black as well as his feet.
He was wearing a loose long-sleeve orange shirt with some loose black pants and a red cloak. The small dragon let out a breath of flames but it didn’t reach the invader. Olympia stood there amazed at what she was seeing.
He glared at her but shifted his attention back to the invaders. Olympia stood there watching as he slashed as one of the invaders approached him. However there were still many left to fight.
She knew that if she tried to help it would mean nothing. Olympia quickly grabbed his hand “It’s not worth it!” she said to him and ran the opposite direction pulling him with her. They made their way into an alley.
Olympia felt him pull his hand out of hers. She looked around the corner to see if anyone was following them. She slipped down the wall catching her breath, not believing what she just did.
“Come on, I owe you. We need to get out of here.” he said to her. Olympia gave him a smile and got up. She watched him as he looked around the corner and followed as he led the way.
