I wait for Jo to fall asleep before getting out of my bed and tip-toeing to my side of the chest of drawers. She doesn't know this, but she snores.
I pick out my flowery blouse, the one with a V-neck. Jo made me get something "sexy" last time we went shopping. I had been so panicked, wondering if she knew. But how could she? Nosy as she is, she couldn't possibly know. She thinks she does.
My phone is vibrating constantly, and I frantically look from it to Jo's bed, but she doesn't move. She's in a deep, deep sleep, thank goodness.
Where r u?
-I'm still getting ready.
Fine. Just don't be late.
A few minutes later, my phone vibrates again while I'm picking out what shoes I'm going to wear.
I'm right outside your house.
Shoot. I decide that wearing sneakers will make lesser noise than heels. I do however pack my blue pumps in my purse. I take one last look at Jo, who's sleeping soundly, clutching her latest favorite book, "The Hound of the Baskervilles."
I open the window slowly, and lift one leg over the ledge, and use the wobbly ladder Dad forgot to put back in the shed after his latest hobby, painting the house.
I make sure I don't step on Mom's little vegetable garden, and I walk over to his car.
