Mary looked at the dress set out for her with disgust. She knew she should dress like a noble, but that was not going to happen.
She took a bright orange dress with loose sleeves and used her dagger. She made it short in the front like a tunic and the length the dress had been in the back.
Mary slipped silver gauntlets over her hands and then a chest plate with the crest of the Starr house on it. She added the silver boots, sheathed her sword, and braided her hair over her shoulder.
She stepped back to examine the outfit she had put together. She looked nothing like what the nobles would expect from her. She was sure her dad would be fine with it. She knew she would draw eyes and stares but she didn’t mind all that much. She looked and felt like herself. Beautiful and strong.
