The clock ticked and I knew that it was my time to go again ; today this was my 4th visit on earth. My eyes could see an old lady named Edith, who had a pure soul. She was suffering from cancer, for the past 4 years.
After reading the file I immediately landed on earth. A sudden mist appeared, and the skies grew dark clearly declaring my arrival. In front of me walked a couple smiling and holding hands.
I stared at them, I couldn't understand what was so special about this bond?
While I was walking, a dirty street dog started barking at me, animals could always see me. Everyone on the street turned their heads, to see the dog and thought that it was mad. I laughed, these small animals could see the things no one could but no one ever cared about them.
I walked towards the hospital, and could sense Edith's breathing. I entered her room. There she was lying on the bed. Her body was fragile and there were wrinkles on her face. Her hair shined silver showing all the wisdom she had. I could tell that she was waiting for me, waiting to see the path of heaven and to meet her husband who died seven years ago in a plane crash.
Edith smiled at me, her eyes could see the me as the fallen angel with black hair and green eyes . Edith knew that it was her time to go, I could see her last memories. She remembered her family, her children and grandchildren. Her eyes were watery, she was grateful for her life and was ready to leave.
I took away her soul in the most peaceful way, her deeds were noble. I saw her body collapsing on the hospital bed, her eyes closed and she looked gentle.
After taking her soul away I casually walked out of the room, the doctor entered , he checked Edith's pulse and declared her dead.
I could see a small family enter . There stood two children near Edith's body, they were crying. A man with his wife sat next to Edith and kept crying until his wife gave him a handkerchief. Crying was one of the human emotions I failed to understand.
'Why do people cry?' , crying makes people weak and crying cannot change the past I thought.'' Crying is useless.'' I muttered to myself.
I was tired of seeing people crying and being so depressed, so I left being annoyed.
''Maybe my job was too depressing, humans are supposed to respect me because I am death, I show them the afterlife''
Like everyday I decided to roam around, rest of the jobs could be completed by my PA Jane. Today quite differently , I decided to go where there were a lot of people instead of going to a lonely graveyard. I was roaming around when I spotted a glow sign. It read ''The bar"
I entered the bar, and heard loud music blasting, saw people dancing everywhere, and enjoying. This made my mood better at least there was somewhere I could see people happy.
Looking at people made me laugh. They were so stupid and naive, I once again was prideful and felt superior. I wanted to go and join the crowd, for once be carefree. A sudden thought struck me, what would happen if the partying people saw the real me as death. Would they be afraid? I kept thinking.
Completely losing the track of time, I turned around and saw the most the most beautiful face on earth, a face which could compete all the angels. My mind started floating, it felt as if I was losing my senses. It felt as if I was in heaven. A boy stood there, he looked like a god. I saw him coming towards me, for the first time I felt nervous. He was so close, but then he passed through me.
And everything started getting clear in my head, reality struck me and I realised that it was just a ''human....''
I turned around and went away as LOVE WASN'T MEANT FOR ME...
