Ms. Davidson,
This is to inform you that you have been chosen as the job of a maid in the Wellington Residence. You would be expected to reach the residence by eight a.m. sharp on 23rd of September for the first day of your work. Further information would be given later on by the head.
Congratulations, and we hope that you'll do your work with utmost sincerity. Given along with this letter is an ID proof which you are required to wear every time you come for work or else you will not be permitted inside the residence.
We look forward to work with you.
Sincerely, The Wellington Residence
My hands shook as I stared at the paper, which was intricately designed with a gold border and everything, in my hand. I slumped on the bed with a shocked expression as my insides bubbled with indescribable happiness. Yes! I finally got a job, that too a job with a large pay.
The job of a maid wasn't really the most honorable job in the society but, who cares? As long as I got enough money for Alec's surgery, go hell with what other's think! Alec is my 15 year old brother, by the way. Alec Davidson. He's suffering with a really life threatening disease that is Coronary artery disease which in common man's words is known as a severe heart disease. I have no idea how it happened but it had and because of our poor financial state we can't even pay for his surgery.
That's why, I, Riley Davidson had to take up a job at one of the most well known families - The Wellington Family. Not as a working assistant (I'm still in High School), unfortunately but as a maid.
Mom was totally against this decision but she gave in when I told her the amount they were paying me. That shut her up, reluctantly. And as for dad... well, he doesn't know and he doesn't need to. Or else he'll be the next one to be suffering from a heart stroke.
I gritted my teeth, so as to stop myself from squealing like a mad ass. Quickly, I picked up my phone and messaged my best friend since middle school, Violet Summers.
Riley: I got the freaking job, girl!
Within twenty seconds her reply came back. Wow. That was fast. But I was used to it. Violet could never stay away from her phone. That day would only come when the sun starts rising from the west.
Violet: Really!? You finally got your dream job of a sewer cleaner?
Riley: Yeah and I'm gonna drag you in the sewer with me so that we can clean the stinky black place and sing Party In The USA. The rodents can be our audience.
Violet: Ever heard that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit?
Riley: Ever heard of Look Whose Talking?
Me and Violet just loved pulling each other's legs. I guess, that's why we're the best of friends cuz we just don't mind each other.
Violet: HA! You got me girl! So tell me when are you starting?
I read the letter once again before typing in the date and time.
Violet: Wow, lucky it's the summer break. I mean, freaking 8:30?
Riley: Oh, Vi, everyone is used to your nocturnal nature. Everyone knows that when the world rises you sleep.
We chatted for some more time before I told her that I have to go to bed.
Have a new day ahead!

My mouth hung open as I took in the size of the Wellington freaking Residence. Judging by the looks of it, I could fit in thirty of my rundown house. This mansion had everything. A huge castle like mansion, a well kept garden with flowers I could never name, a fountain with a mermaid in the middle, guards in full uniform, an ear piece and probably a real gun too, roaming the place. I was so lost in checking out the place that I didn't notice the yelling from the speaker at the gate, "Hey, girl! What do you want?"
I was so shocked at the sudden outburst that it took me a couple of minutes to respond, "Uh... I was, um, job-"
"If you're another fangirl of Kane Wellington you might as well pick your sorry ass and get lost right now."
I frowned at his viscous nature. Nobody speaks to Riley Davidson like that. I leaned forward so that my nose was touching the speaker. I was sure the guy could see me from the camera above the speaker. "For your information, Mr. No Manners At All, I'm not a fangirl of Kane Wellington, whoever the hell he is. I'm here for a job. A job which is really important for me as it is a matter of life and death for my brother who you've no idea is. Here's my ID proof." I smacked the ID which I had got on the scanner. "I understand you're tired from your daily work but that's no way to speak."
I heard some shocked gasps from the speaker but I hardly cared. Then the guard cleared his throat and said, "Oh, um, okay. You can go in." Then he muttered ever so softly. "Sorry."
And with that the large gates opened slowly. I sighed shaking my head. So much for going in. I took back the ID and kept it in my pocket. "Thank you." I said and walked in. But then I came back and smiled at the camera. "It's okay." And I walked in again.
Then, my friends, I got lost. Like literally. I've never got lost in this town before but now here I was lost in this Duke's castle. Every hall looked the same and I could hardly make out where to go. I tried to ask the other maids working but they were so busy in their own work they didn't even spare a glance at me.
Hmph.
Oh God. I had to reach at 8 a.m. which I had but I wasted ten minutes by just trying to figure out where to go. "Are you looking for someone?"
I turned around. It was a big mistake because what I saw made my breath hitch in my throat. Standing before me was the most handsome guy I'd ever seen. Striking blue eyes, dark black hair which was ruffled, pale skin and the hottest body ever seen in mankind. I did not realize that I was gawking at him like a pig until he smirked. "Are you dumb or have you forgotten how to speak?" he asked cockily.
I staggered back when I realized my boldness. "I- I..." I stuttered. Hey! I didn't stutter! I cleared my throat and with whatever dignity I had left, stood up straight. "Can... Can you tell me where to find, um... Cole Richards?"
"Cole?" he asked tilting his head, a small smile on his lips. "You his girlfriend?"611Please respect copyright.PENANAqOhIZHhATg
"What- No!" I countered. "I've never even met him. I'm here for a job and, well, his name is written on the envelope... So probably..." I trailed off now starting to succumb in his menacing stare.
"What kind of job?"
Suddenly, I felt a need to hide about my job. Maybe, I didn't want him to know... Oh, hell! I have just met him -and probably never see him again- so why was I so shy. "A maid."
That guy just nodded. "Follow me," he said. "I'll take you to Cole."
