I looked up at Jasper my cheeks flushing a dark red and my hand flying up to my hair, flattening down the stray hairs. His bright green eyes flickered to mine and looked away almost instantly, but found their way back to mine slowly, locking onto mine.
“What’s up Cassandra,” Jasper shouted across the room, his eyes searching mine. Flustered, I looked down to the ground.
“Oh, hi. W-well, n-nothing much I guess,” I stutter. He smiled and slid into the seat next to me, and pushed back long strands of hair from his face. “D-did you do the homework?” I asked forcing myself to look back into his eyes.
Jasper didn't respond, his eyes distant, and the tips of his fingers tapping softly on the desk. Thinking he didn’t hear me, I leaned over and dug through my bookbag for the paper. “Jasper,” I said raising my voice a level.
“Yea,” Jasper responded.
“Did you do the homework?” I asked. I found the paper and grabbed it out, and brushed my hair from my face.
Jasper still didn’t respond. Looking over at him, I found myself transfixed, staring at his fingers as they combed through his hair. “Oh, yea. I did it,” he answered and returned my glare. My eyes couldn’t leave his and I found myself absorbed, realizing the obsession I hid. “Do you wanna-,” Jasper paused and squinted his eyes in frustration. “Do you want to go and get something to eat?”
“N-n-now?” I managed to stutter, looking away and combing my hair back.
“No,” Jasper laughed. “like after school, if you want to.”
“I would love to.” I felt my face redden as I looked at him and smiled and considered the fact that I could have feelings for him.
“I know where to go then,” He combed through his book bag and pulled out a flyer. “I was looking around yesterday, and this place seems pretty good.” He held up to flyer so that I could read it and my heart sank immediately.
In large big letters at the top of the flyer was the restaurant name and their tag line:
HAO CHI RESTAURANT
“Tasty and delicious”
“What do you think about this place?” Jasper said elated, pushing the flyer closer to me. I looked up at him and forced a smile. “Can’t wait.”
