The whole room felt like it was holding its breath when we halted in front of the Headmaster.
“Son, let go of her,” he says scowling at Lucifer’s hand on mine.
The whole room gasped with me. Son? Lucifer is the Headmaster’s son. Excellent, leave it to me to attract the scariest man I have ever seen son.
“Or what?” Lucifer says firmly.
I thought the Headmaster was scary but when he heard his son say that, he exploded. His pale face turned even colder and he grabbed my arm so hard I knew it was going to leave a brose and yanked me away from Lucifer’s grasp. But what surprised me the most was the speed that Lucifer moved to punch his father so vigorously he fell on the ground.
“I think I remember me saying that I didn’t want you touching her,” he calmly says at his father laying on the floor.
My mouth fell open in shock. How can he treat his father like that? The Headmaster trembled to get up from the floor and scowled at his son. Lucifer glared back at him.
“Gentleman,” the Headmaster said, glancing behind us.
I turned around to see five groups of boys marching toward me. They moved to pass me and approached Lucifer. They stopped surrounding him and they appeared to be frightened to touch him. By the look he was giving them, I was afraid for them.
“Take him out of here,” his father said.
The group of boys didn’t move. Lucifer was glaring at every single one of them and daring them to put their hands on him.
“NOW!” his father yelled.
One boy moved to grab him, but Lucifer raised his eyebrow and smirked. And the boy backed up. With his smirk still on his face, he runs his hands through his hair staring at me, like he’s saying look at what I can do. I glance away from him. I gaze at his father who is at the point of bursting again.
The Headmaster closed his eyes and breathed through his nose slowly.
“Son, please don’t do this here,” he pleaded.
I hear Lucifer slowly exhale and deliberately walk forward. The five boys move away from him.
“Fine,” Lucifer surprisingly said.
“I won’t, but you can’t hurt her, ok,” he replies, stopping to occupy the space beside me again.
His father grimaced at me. He looks at me like he smells something unpleasant.
“Fine,” he reluctantly says.
I glare at him back. I was distracted from his cold stare when something hard and warm brushes my cheek. At instinct, I moved away from it. But I was stopped short. It was just the feel of the irritating boy’s hands. It seems like he can’t help himself from touching me. I can’t help myself from responding to his touch. But I have to end this.
I slowly move away from him, because the heat suffering from his closeness is making my heart do annoying flip-flops. I hear him gently sign. I smile at the small victory of hurting his ego.
“Now, Miss Angel,” the headmaster stated while dusting off his shirt and straightening his tie, “I would like to speak with you privately.”
He looks at Lucifer with a raised eyebrow. Lucifer rolls his stunning eyes. And I step forward to the Headmaster feeling a bitter taste in my mouth.
I check behind my searching for Grace.
I found her and my eyes mood bright at her encouraging smile. Even though she tried, she failed miserably to hide the look of fear for me in her eyes.
