Kellen slipped into the progression of the first verse of the song and everything else melted away, but the music and his bandmates. "Solemn nights straight to sonorous silence, I live in the gaps between time." He turned in the midst of singing to face the crowd, looking over them. "Running 'round the expanse of the willow, walking the edge of the line. You said the silence would change us. Ethereal. Above the sky." Fjalda stepped to the front of the crowd and he caught her gaze for a moment, feeling as if his feet would lift from the wood beneath him. "What if we just rearrange this, confuse it all and learn to fly? What if I ripped out the pages? To start it all...over...again." As he hit the last line the tempo changed, switching from regular strumming to about half-time and he slowed down as well, running through the words as if he were in a sort of trance, but keeping the same sonorous, twangy, tone, "spinning around you've caught me in disarray. Light illuminating..everything, you could say we're caught in crystalline... never sway." Each time he hit a new line, the guitars picked up speed for a moment, then fell back to their deliberate rhythm. The further he got into the song, the more claps and whistles rose from the crowd. "All these things I never got to say... prismarine... caught up in the crystalline."247Please respect copyright.PENANAPv6lJvdp8P
As he called out, "crystalline" one more time, he closed his eyes for a time as the guitars marked the only sound in evidence for a slow count to ten, until Kellen and Marialena cut them off and the cicadas rising on the wind sang the dying chords.247Please respect copyright.PENANATiaSrm3GH8
