She's a self proclaimed pessimist. Do I agree with her? Kind of. She wasn't always like this.
She had a bubbly personality. She still is bubbly but her personality was now more skeptical and sarcastic of the world than before.733Please respect copyright.PENANAFpJEZnR8S8
It was after two years that I met her. I was abroad and she was abroad and we'd both come back to our home countries for a holiday.
Even after two years, she hadn't changed much at all. She was a few inches shorter than me (I'm about five' nine) when we'd last met but now she seemed shorter. It was perhaps because I'd grown slightly taller myself in my own time abroad while she hadn't grown at all. Although her face was still chubby, I could tell by her arms and waist that she'd lost weight abroad. No doubt it was due to stress from her assignments and her part time job at a fast food restaurant. Customer service can really take a toll on you physically as well as mentally.733Please respect copyright.PENANAXSsj67vRXJ
Her skin was still pale as snow. Spending twenty four months in a Scandinavian country had done wonders to her skin; her cheeks once riddled with acne now only had a spot or two on either side. I could see that she had dyed her hair, which nearly reached down to her waist, a dark auburn colour - it was brownish black, her natural hair colour, when I'd last seen her. Her eyes were the same dark brown, not that I'd expected them to change since eye colours doesn't change. Unless you have a medical condition - and now I'm off topic.
Back to her, she always had the biggest toothy smile among all my friends. You could see her upper gums whenever she broke a smile. She had a slightly larger than normal upper incisors which might be the reason for her unique smile. Before she'd left for her higher education, she smiled almost constantly. It didn't matter what the situation was, she would always have that smile on her face. Now, she only smiled when she found something humorous. At other times, she maintained a neutral expression as if she was bored with everything in the world.
A few weeks after our reunion, she cut her hair to shoulder length. Her argument was that it was easier to maintain than longer her. It was a sentiment I agreed with; I could never understand how girls managed to shampoo all that hair so thoroughly.
Our country isn't exactly clean environmentally. Combined with the oil and spice we put in our food, it was no wonder that the acne on her face was back after a month back home. If not for the fact that she wasn't particularly self-conscious about her face she would have perhaps never stepped out of her house given the condition of her face.
She stayed for two months before leaving. I was staying longer so I saw her off at the airport with a few mutual friends. She was dressed in a flowery t-shirt, pale blue in colour, a plain denim and sandals (she rarely wore heels). As we exchanged our goodbyes, she smiled. It was genuine smile, reminiscent of her old personality. And then she was gone.733Please respect copyright.PENANAJ5yknAmQWZ
She's back in Europe, continuing her studies. She's cut her hair even shorter; it is now basically the same length as mine.
She still calls herself a pessimist. Do I agree with her? Kind of. But, one of these days, I'm sure she'll revert back to her old self. It'll take time, I know. I'll just wait patiently.733Please respect copyright.PENANA3DaSg8nOA3
