Synopsis:
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?
In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig’s enchanting new novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.
Quotes:
"But it is not lives we regret not living that are the real problem. It is the regret itself. It’s the regret that makes us shrivel and wither and feel like our own and other people's worst enemy."- Matt Haig524Please respect copyright.PENANAoXvW8imIoU

"Regrets ignore chronology. They float around."- Mrs. Elm
"A pawn is a queen-in-waiting. All you need to do is find a way to keep moving forward." - Mrs. Elm
“If you aim to be something you are not, you will always fail. Aim to be you. Aim to look and act and think like you. Aim to be the truest version of you. Embrace that you-ness. Endorse it. Love it. Work hard at it. And don’t give a second thought when people mock it or ridicule it. Most gossip is envy in disguise.”- Nora
My two cents:
We all want a picture-perfect life, yet we tend to focus only on the negativity because it's what frustrates us the most. The thing is, one can never develop a picture without a negative one, and that's the way life is -- full of ups and downs.
This story is about not regretting every decision we made and trying to fix them. I'm pretty fond of the idea that Matt Haig make the "in-between" a library. Take a step back, and you'll realize that you already are the best version of yourself.
Just like what Tallulah Bankhead said, "If I had to live my life again, I'd make the same mistakes, only sooner."
