Today was the day. I could not wait to see them again, they had been gone for so long. I have been waiting a while at the bus stop already, watching the sun travel across the sky, birds fly overhead, taking in as much of the day as possible. People would pass by without saying anything. "Today's the day, huh?" I'd say for them.
"Yessir!" I'd respond.
"Well best of luck!" They'd respond; I could see it on their faces.
Seated beneath the tree, shaded from the sun, right in front of where the bus stops, ready to greet them when they return home. Today was my day, it had to be. "What are you waiting for today?"
"They're coming home!"
"Oh how splendid! Tell them I said 'Hi!' for me."
"Can do!"
"How long have you been here, child?"
"All day. I am so excited!"
"Well, best of luck, kid!"
"Thank you, sir!"
I've been looking forward to their arrival all day, I can't wait. Leaves blow by, all ready to go. That will be me today, once they arrive. What do I say?
"Hey, there you are!" They'll say.
"Finally!" I reply.
"Hey, it's been so long!" They say, stepping off the bus.
"Yeah, but now we're together!" I reply.
"Oh my gosh!" They exclaim, hair blown by the rustling wind.
"It's been so long!" I reply
"Oh, goodness!" They say, stepping into the shade.

"Hello?" I reply.

"It's been all day, hasn't it?" I ask.

"Yeah, I'm waiting for them to return!"

"Yes! I cannot wait to see them and we get to be together again today and tomorrow and the day after that and--"
