Moonlight shines in through the window into Vasco's eyes as he blinks them open. He rubs at them with the back of his hand before he catches a glimmer of something shiny out of the corner of his vision. He blinks more and tries to focus in the dark. This time, he doesn't see anything so he lays back down and turns away from the window.
However, he finds himself unable to go back to sleep. He turns back around and again glimpses the shiny thing. He leans back slightly before reaching slowly out to see if maybe he had left a book or one of Estella's bags on the bed. Then again, had he even messed with her stuff? He pauses to consider this but shakes the scattered thought away and pats near where he had seen the shiny thing. His hand comes into contact with something soft...and furry?
Vasco furrows his brows. "What the feathers?" He mumbles. He looks at his hand and slowly moves his fingers through the furry substance. His hand stops when he comes in contact with something wet.
"Maybe...maybe I left a canteen with a boa on the bed." He then nods to himself and turns over again, feeling satisfied.
He closes his eyes, but just as he starts to drift back to sleep, something fuzzy brushes against his leg. His eyes fly open and he lashes out with a strong kick at the invader. His heart beats rapidly in his throat as he hears something thump to the ground...and start crying?
Vasco flips on the lamp and leans cautiously over the side of the bed. He looks at the sobbing child in the floor in disbelief before sitting up. He just shakes his head as he feels the heat creep into his cheeks.
"I did not just kick Blair out of bed." He murmurs.
He leans back over and looks at her before sighing and pulling her back onto the bed, hugging her close. "Shh, shhh. You're okay, you just gave me heart failure."
Blair keeps crying regardless.
Vasco rocks her gently. His cheeks burn with shame. "I'm sorry. Please stop crying...please?"
As the child shows no signs of calming down, he gets an idea and gets up, carrying her with him. He goes to the wardrobe and takes out a few pairs of Estella's socks. He sits Blair down and she starts to quiet from curiosity as she watches him. Vasco holds out his hand and a pair of scissors and a spool of thread with a needle float over to him. He gestures to the socks before rubbing Blair's back.
After a few minutes, the sewing supplies float back to their places and Vasco picks up the sock dog doll left in the place of the socks. He smiles sheepishly and offers the doll to Blair. "Truce?"
Blair sniffs, nodding, and hugs the doll close as Vasco picks her back up.
"Great." He yawns. "Then let's try this sleep thing over again." He lays back down, still holding her close.
