Kendall walks down the hall, frowning that Greg had not reappeared yet from his chat with Simon. She tries to push her concerns away and looks at the sheets Rufford had printed as she walks.
"Oh!" She then exclaims as she walks straight into Gregory.
Greg looks down at her with a smirk. "Interesting notes?" He asks, getting a chip from a small bag.
Kendall squints at him as she gets the papers she dropped. "If you saw me, why didn't you say something?"
"Mouth was full." He shrugs and helps her back up. "Those for me?"
"Yes, I have a copy for you. Rufford will have to get back to us on the American though."
Gregory nods, finishing the bag of chips off and crumpling up the bag. "I'll look over them tonight, tomorrow I'll meet you at your flat."
"My flat?" She raises a brow.
"The Mercedes needs some road time, so that makes more sense than wasting cash on a cab. I'll be over around eight." He pushes the door open and Kendall walks out under his arm.
"Alright then, I'll be ready."
"Good." Gregory steps a way to wave down a passing cab. He then glances over his shoulder. "Remind me tomorrow I owe you five quid."
Kendall raises a brow and looks at him. "What are you talking about?"
He grins and opens the cab door. "Just remind me that I owe you five quid, that's all."
"But why, Gregory?" She slides into the cab.
"Eh...It's for that stupid jar."
"WHAT? Gregory, what did you do that was five quid worthy?"
Gregory grins. "Oh nothing really...Just a few light threats."
Kendall face palms. "I thought you said you were just going to talk to him." She sighs, brushing her bangs from her eyes.
"That's exactly what I did."
"One of these days that boy is going to snap and shoot you, you know that right?"
He snorts and crosses his arms. "I'd like to see him try."
Kendall just shakes her head and looks out the window. She passes him the papers and a highlighter without taking her gaze from the window. "I'd say we should start with the woman's ex-husband tomorrow. She's the only one that we know of that had any close relatives still living."
Gregory nods as he gets the papers. "Most likely I will agree, but I'll let you know tomorrow."

The next morning, Kendall hops into the passenger side of Greg's car at a little past eight.
"You're late." He glances at her as he reverses back onto the road.
"Molly was determined to come along this morning."
Gregory just shakes his head. "That cat is nothing but trouble."
"You're one to talk." She raises a brow. "Now where we going?"
He fiddles with the radio. "We will first drop by Mr. Laurel, that ex of the diseased." He then returns his attention to the road.
Kendall groans. "Not the stocks station!"
"I didn't get to check the paper this morning. After I hear how my investments are doing, we can switch over to something else."
"Fine." She leans back in her seat and sighs. "So where are we to find Mr. Laurel?"
"Cambridge."
Kendall nods and watches out the window again.
"On the way back I might let you drive."
"What?" She looks at him with widened eyes. "You're barmy!"
Gregory grins. "It's not too bad of a drive and you know you need the road time so you can learn."
"I think we both prefer living."
"I'll put that as a maybe then." He then nods.
"You're insane."
"You need to learn how at some point, Kendall."
"I might hurt the car."
"I can afford that."
Kendall sighs and glances at him. "We'll see."
Greg nods and passes her an iPod. "That a girl, now you can put on some music."
"You're cruel and unusual, you know that?" She rolls her eyes, but gets it and starts scrolling through it. "Twenty-One Pilots? Panic at the Disco? Voltaire? Three Days Grace?"
"Why don't you just shuffle it?"
"Just seeing if you were in the mood for anything in specific first."
"Not currently."
Kendall nods and sets the iPod down. Gregory passes her a stack of papers that he had had stashed in his visor.
"But if you could be checking these out..."
"What are these?" She turns the stack and looks at them.
"I had Philip pull up the victims' financial histories."
Kendall blinks and looks at him. "Philip still works there? Didn't he get fired last week?"
Greg shakes his head. "You're thinking of Kurt."
"Might be." She frowns and looks at the sheets. "The turn over in that department is crazy."
"Just be glad we aren't on their payroll. Got to love freelancing."
"Except when there's no case to solve."
Gregory chuckles. "And you call me impatient."
"You're not the one that needs the paycheck to keep her flat."
He glances at her with a raised brow. "Did Walter raise the rent again?"
Kendall nods with a sigh. "It's fine though, I've got it covered." She watches out the window. "I swear if he raises it again though I'm going to start looking for a new flat."
"Kendall, you know if you need the—"
"No. Thank you, but no, Gregory. I've got it covered." She smiles at him slightly. "Really, I do."
"The offer still stands though." He shrugs.
Kendall sighs slightly and turns her attention to the papers in her hand. For a long while, the car is quiet but for the music in the background.
"How much longer?"
"Not too far I think. Was there anything interesting in her financial records?"
"Not really. Looks like Mrs. Laurel may have enjoyed a good gamble on occasion." She shrugs.
Gregory nods, but is obviously not really listening. He checks the GPS on his cell and the road names. "Oh yeah, we are almost there. Keep an eye out for a house numbered 460."
Kendall points down the road. "That looks like it on the end perhaps?"
"I think you might be right." He nods and pulls up into the driveway.
"Did you call beforehand?"
"Call?" He raises a brow at her. "Why would I have called them?"
Kendall face-palms. "Common courtesy? To make sure that he would even be home?"
"The police never call." He shrugs as he hops out and shuts the door.
"But as you pointed out to Chief Tushingham, we are not the police!"
Gregory stands by the door and straightens his shirt. "We are close enough when I deem it necessary to be so."
Kendall shuts her door with a long sigh. "And they say women waffle about." She mutters.
"I heard that."
"Well, it's true, and I mean that in the most loving way, Greg." She chuckles as she walks over to him.
Gregory just rolls his eyes and knocks on the door.
