Cora whipped her head around at the door-
It was just her mom.
"Honey, can you keep the volume down?" She peeped, then frowned at the meds on Cora's desk. "Why aren't you taking these?" She asked, picking up the 7/8 full bottle, looking at her daughter. Cora shrugged, "They don't help."
Her mom looked over, "By the way... who were you talking to? I heard you speaking- something about friends? Didn't you revoke imaginary friends a while ago?"
Cora's face flushed, "I-I- uh,-"
Oh god- she's gonna say something
Well- stop her!
I can't control her actions without her permission!!!
For god's sake. Move over.
Don't you dare!
We have no choice. If she tells anyone, we are finished.
This is illegal!
Do you WANT to lose your job?! Come on! Help me pull the lever!
I hate this idea...
Cora suddenly stopped.
Move. I'll get her to do the correct actions.
Are you sure?
You literally don't even know what half of the controls do.
You literally don't know everything.
....
Nevermind. Yes you do.
Cora opened her mouth, "I have no one else to talk to... so I thought I would talk to myself. Is there something wrong with that? Should I stop?"
Woah- good move. Smart, slightly sarcastic, and genuine. You really know how to activate the guilt sensor.
I hate you.
(smirks) no you don't. You never will. That's just how you are.
Shut up.
Cora's mom sighed, "Honey- I am so sorry, I didn't mean it like that. It's just... strange for a girl to talk to herself. You remember that girl- what was her name?..."
"Mari." Cora clipped.
"Yes! Mari. You remember how she was sent to a mental hospital? I don't want that for you- just- just be careful."
"Okay." Cora muttered. On the inside, she wasn't controlling her actions. She knew something was wrong...
My turn!
No way! I just won her over!
I'll be careful!
You never are...
Cora suddenly got an idea, "Mom? Can I have some popcorn?"
Her mom blinked in surprise, "You haven't had popcorn in a while..."
"I'm hungry today." Cora murmured.
Her mother sighed, "Alright... but just this once."
She came back with popcorn, before saying goodnight and leaving Cora with Tig and Lane.
Haha! Bonuuus! (he pushes a button, pulling the freshly baked popcorn out of a shelf)
Lane, stop making mental food appear! There's still soda over there!
(rolls eyes) Pop off. Soda and popcorn aren't the same thing. (pushes a popcorn kernel in Tig's mouth) tell me you regret letting me take over.
(chews) Kettle corn...? How-
All we have in their house is kettle corn. I know you like it, which is why I asked.
(smiles) stop trying to win me over
Is it working?
Okay you two. Stop messing around in my head. How did you just get popcorn- when mine is still here? And hwy are you in my brain? Why are you my imaginary friends!?
Silence.
Oh.... shes maaad....
Shush!
Explain. Now.
Okay... well we come from Seirei. We are imaginary friends go to live... whether they like it or not. When someone imagines us- (and there are over billions of us) we go into their head and investigate their lives. Once we reach their heads and communicate with them... we can stay! Which lets us make copies of you food and drinks or your feelings- then we transport the copies in here. That's why we still have your Coke Zero from earlier-
Because it's gross. Why do you drink that- it's like, bLeH.
Lane- I swear to god-
You're boring. We are your left and right brain. We can control what you do, how you speak, your decisions, etc- I'm the fun one, while Tig is the sucky boring one.
What the hell?! Why are you giving me the bad introductions?
