I remember one day when I was 14, something strange and scary happened to me. I finished my orchestra lesson quite late. My parents went out so they gave my house key to my neighbour living next to my house. I left the academy of music with my friends and headed back to my house. As we practiced the theme song of Harry Potter during the class, we talked about the movie and the books that J.K Rowling had written. Till now, the movie and book that I have enjoyed the most is the first tome : Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I do not know if it is because I read and watched it when I was little but sometimes I feel like the world of magic depicted by J.K Rowling is so realistic. Anyways, after a few minutes, we ended up talking about magic, witchcraft and these kind of thrilling topics. As it was already dark outside, I felt that it was helping our thoughts to be even more interesting but at the same time, it was a bit scary. One of my friend was explaining how he strongly believed that magic was more about being able to communicate with spirits and that it would always have dire consequences for the person practicing it. In the middle of our supernatural debate, we reached the intersection where we had to take our own paths.323Please respect copyright.PENANApV6ISjgbB0

As I was walking towards my house, I noticed that someone was following me. The person was probably a man as I could hear a glimpse of his voice while he coughed. His boots were making a repetitive squeaking sound when he was walking. By analyzing his shadow I could guess that he was wearing a long coat and a fedora. He was clearly following me while keeping a distance. I accelerated my steps so that he could not keep up with my strides. However, he was slowly catching up. After a few minutes, he was just a few steps behind me. I stopped and turned back. There was no one. The man had disappeared. I was confused. 323Please respect copyright.PENANAoYeGN7l14N

I reached my street so I went to my neighbour's house to ask for keys. Indeed, my parents went out that day so they had left the key to our neighbour. The latter told me that he was coming along to check that I safely enter the house. I know it may sound odd but there were a few robberies in my neighbourhood at the time. I opened the gate and we headed to my house. I heard an unsual sound, it was coming from inside my house. My neighbour took the key out of my hands and quickly opened the door. Somebody was in my house, probably a thief. 323Please respect copyright.PENANAmpnQwMI9ZU

When we entered, no noise could be heard. We were waiting for the moment the silence was going to get broken and betray the thief. We went towards the kitchen which was near the hall. There was nothing, everything was in order. Same observation upstairs, nothing had been disrupted. Everything seemed well ordered, too well-ordered. I entered my room with the neighbour who was also bit tensed and scared of the unpredictable. Suddenly, the door got violently shut. The noise scared us. I felt a chilling sensation. Behind the curtains, we first did not see but the window was opened. It explained the movement of the door. The thief may have gone out that way when he heard us using the roof to jump. Even though, I felt like it was still too high. We closed the window. Even my room which was usually in a mess, turned out tidy. My clothes were not on the chair but well folded and put in my cupboard. School items were perfectly arranged and classified on my table. I thought that maybe one of my parents had done some cleaning and tidying in the house. 323Please respect copyright.PENANAZlifvvJeoo

The last place to check in the house was the basement. I was frightened as it was the darkest place in my house where we usually just stored objects which were old and that we no longer used. My father often adviced me not to go into the basement as the wooden stairs were not really reliable. As I had already fallen there when I had been little and finished in the hospital, he did not want it to happen again. We prepared to go downstairs. Suddenly, a noise disrupted my flow of thoughts. The neighbour took my hand and went down the stairs of the basement. Nobody was there, one book was on the floor. It could have been the origin of the sound we heard as it seemed to have fallen from the table. There was dust on the book so at first I could not see it clearly. Then I identified it, it was the book my grandmother had given me for my last birthday. I thought I had lost it as I could not find it anywhere. 323Please respect copyright.PENANAul4PQSmsKh

We went back upstairs. We had inspected every room in the house and there was nothing suspicious. We also checked the garden, everything was ok. My neighbour who was too kind, told that he would stay a bit until my parents came back. He told the noises could have been also because of rats or mice which were invading all the houses because of the building works that the city mayor initiated in the neighbourhood. To thank my neighbour for staying, I told him that I would make him a cup of tea. In this cold winter, nobody could say no to a warm cup of tea. I went to the kitchen. I put some water in the kettle to boil. In the middle of my thoughts, a green light caught my attention. It was coming from my garden. I could see the face of somebody in the green refelction. I was convinced it was my grandmother's. I ran back towards the garden. The neighbour who did not understand what was happening asked if everything ok. The garden was empty, grandma was not there. I did not know why I was having this kind of hallucinations.323Please respect copyright.PENANAOoQmUA2qtE
