After bringing four glasses of ice-cold lemonade to the table I studied the game pieces. They were so intricate, it was almost as if they were alive. I could see the different folds and creases in their clothes and even make out strands of their hair, it was slightly creepy.
The one that fascinated me the most was a character called "Jess Downwary". She was so pretty…what am I saying? Am I seriously simping over a game piece? Plus it's not like I'm into women. I'm one hundred per cent into dudes, yes. Either way, I knew I wouldn’t be playing as this character.
Taking my mind off the character pieces I looked over at Ezekiel who had taken a grungy piece of paper out of the box and thrown it on the floor. I understood why. The thing was yellow and looked like it was growing mould. But I couldn’t help but wonder if it was important.
"Check this out! It’s so smart Sunny! All the characters are named after missing people. I knew I had heard these names somewhere; the pieces even look exactly like them! The creators really knew what they were doing," Of course, Violet would notice that, and then yell it out.
I swear as soon as she said that, Ezekiel started making goo-goo eyes. He looked like a literal puppy whenever their owners came back. He slightly reminded me of Mr Duckonson, our childhood dog. Maybe that’s why Violet likes him…
“By the way Sunny, why’d you bring four cups of lemonade? There’s only three of us,” Ezekiel asked, pointing at the extra cup.
I had forgotten to tell them I’d invited him. Just as I was about to explain there was a knock at the door. Being too lazy to get up I decided to ask Violet to answer it for me.
"That’s why. I invited my friend Andrew surely you guys know him, he goes to our school. I thought I told you guys. Vi, can you please get the door? I’m too tired to get up."
