“Cooper Briar, the smartest doctor in our hospital, who has been leaving early for ‘special emergencies’. Apparently, rumors go on that he might be… connected… to the murders.” Jane sighed, crossing her arms. Dread lies within her eyes.
“Hey.. why do you look so sad?” I asked, laying my hand on hers. She looked up at me and shook her head. Her code of saying ‘I am fine’
“Do you know where he lives?” I asked.
“Well, he has thanksgiving parties with the other smarter doctors, but, due to me being a surgeon, he never invites me.” Jane commented.
I got confused, why won’t he invite other surgeons? Just doctors? I thought about it. What if there is a chance those doctors may also be connected.
“Does he do any type of surgery?”
“He is learning how to do heart surgery, he is doing kind of good, however, he needs to learn how to make straight lines. We could have lost some people with those ‘skills’ he has.” Jane commented, swinging her legs.
Sally’s heart went to my head, the cut was not jagged or crooked in any kind. So, Cooper may have not done this, but still could have stolen the knife to give to the true killer.
“Thank you for your cooperation” I said, walking out of the room. I put my thoughts down on my notebook and walked to my station.
The chief welcomed me into his office. His desk was filled with all sort of files involving a murder. His medals hung around his office, and a dusty, old television set lay within the tables.
“So, what have you found out?” The chief nervously asked. He often acted tough, but you can clearly tell he was deeply stressed out. I sat on a chair and started talking.
“Jane told me about this doctor, Cooper Briar, who may be a suspect towards the murders. However, she noted that he can’t properly do heart surgery well.” I said. “Always crooked or jagged. So, I think there is a chance that he may be DEEPLY connected to the murders.”
The chief nodded, and walked around the room, thinking hard.
“Thank you for telling me, do you know where he lives?” The chief asked.
“Unfortunately no, Jane had no idea.” I sighed.
“Well, the best thing we could do is go undercover.” The chief grinned, pointing at me. “You, my sir, are going undercover to figure out the truth behind all this crazy shit.”
I nodded and started going out.
“Did I say you could leave?” The chief's voice boomed.
I nervously chuckled and walked towards him to see what he needed to say.
“Now, you will be going undercover as a doctor, make sure to earn his trust, and maybe hopefully figure out where he lives, got it? Will you be up to the task?”
I thought about it and smiled.
“Fuck yeah.” I said, placing my hands on my hips.
