Before you sits a box on a table. On it, three words are printed in bold, black letters. "DO NOT OPEN" it reads. Of course, the curious nature of humans would lead the temptation to open it for form. The longing to see what is being hidden grows more immense as each second passes. In less than a single minute, the mind and heart are screaming for the box to be opened, and its secrets unveiled.
However, what is inside could be anything. By opening the box, you may unleash a force that cannot be controlled. It may leap forth and consume you. This could be all of hell itself, now free to turn the world to ash and rain chaos upon those who live today. It may tear your flesh apart inch by inch upon release, a punishment for your inability to control your urge. It could very well be your undoing, and the undoing of so many others…
But it may be filled with light, released to cleanse the earth of sin and misery. Diseases may be cured suddenly, and all of those who now suffer would be able to once again live healthy and well. Poverty would cease to be, as money rains from the heavens upon the paupers and gives them hope. Crime would stop, as there would no longer be need to steal and murder, all emotion besides love and joy would vanish from our hearts. Indeed, the world would shine brighter, free of corruption and made pure!
Of course, the box may have horrors that the eyes can never unsee. Things that will burn into the mine forever, piercing into your very soul. The things inside could be so sickening that your body can no longer contain the bile growing within it. It would pour from every possible orifice in an attempt to flush out the image. It could drive you insane, your mind unable to handle the ungodly thing that it would face.
And what if it was beauty? What if inside lies something that fills your heart with wonder, and pleasures your eyes. The colors so vibrant and charming that you long for the entire would to share them. This item, should it be an item, forces your mind and heart to cry out from the overwhelmingness of it. It would be breath taking as you bask in its glow, seeing every bit of perfection.
An endless number of things could be held in the box. Knowledge of the universe, corruption of the heart, great wealth, happiness, death. Anything. Excitedly, you would, as most others too would, not be able to contain yourself. The lid of the box would be lifted by your hand, and your eyes would peer inside, scanning the contents. But all too often, afterwards you leave from disappointment, as you find the box to be devoid of anything, save for air.456Please respect copyright.PENANAr9woZHunGJ
