Skarloey, Rheneas, along with Sir Handel, Peter Sam, Ivo Hugh, and Duncan, entered the tunnel, leaving the surface world behind. Skarloey led the small group, followed by Rheneas, Sir Handel, Peter Sam, and Duncan, with Ivo Hugh taking up the rear.
"How's the view up there, huh Skarloey?" Duncan asked, as the tunnel slowly began to narrow, and the group's progress slowed to a crawl. The engines started to crawl on all fours. Skarloey frowned, turning on his headlamp, illuminating the way in front of him.
"The tunnel widens up ahead," Skarloey replied, and the tunnel did widen, so the group stopped to stretch their legs. Duncan watched Rheneas as he made marks on the map he carried.
"Is that where we are?" Duncan asked, pointing at a spot on the map. Rheneas nodded, rolling up the map, and stowing it in his pack. Peter Sam yawned, leaning against the cave wall. 258Please respect copyright.PENANAgYreLW0NkN
"I dunno about you guys," He murmured, closing his eyes. "But I'm beat. It's nigh impossible to tell the difference between night and day..." Sir Handel nodded, and sat, leaning against the cave wall.
"I agree with Peter Sam," Sir Handel replied, shutting off his headlamp. "I'm going to sleep too." Skarloey and Rheneas glanced at each other.
"Alright," Skarloey said, taking a seat beside Rheneas. "We'll all rest here for a bit, and the first to wake will rouse everyone, so we can continue moving." The other engines voiced their agreements, and soon the cave was filled with quiet sleeping breathing, with snores from Skarloey.
