Slizards made their first appearance on Earth a long time ago, actually, deep under the surface of the ocean.

Predators, they fed on large amounts of small fish and sea creatures. Having no specific need for air, these animals spent most of their time under water.

At the time, they had long, lizard like tails which aided them in swimming fast through the water, in a right and left motion. They swam like the common gator back in the 21st century.

The long tail had sharp, small fins. This would aide them in defense, as they would almost slap opposing predators with their tails. The tail also sensed vibrations, as well as the fins running along their vertebrae. This helped them sense any movement from their prey, as their vision was poor in the dark water.

The Slizard had a strong jaw, meant for breaking and biting, one of the strongest jaws of their time. Their arms were not that flexible as opposed to their back legs. Their arms would only aide in swimming and would take no part in catching the prey.

Their snout was long, and their eyes were black. Their color would usually range from dark green to black. The Slizard would usually be found in dark, underwater caves and wait until an unlucky fish happens to pass by. They would not usually go for particularly big fish or creature unless the creature itself would threaten it or hurt the Slizard. Then, would the Slizard not only proceed in chasing the creature but also hunt it down for its next meal. You could say they were one for revenge.

The Slizard would stay this way until the oceans of Earth started drying up, forcing them to move out of their natural habitat and into more shallow water. This caused a lot of deaths in the Slizard population, as some had not evolved yet.

As Earth continued to dry, Slizards were forced out of the water completely. As mentioned previously, they had no particular need for air, but they did have the ability to breathe oxygen, as they were originally a part-land-part-ocean animal.

After the Big Dry, Slizards mostly lived in swamp-regions, and, as time went on, they moved more like a human, gaining human-like characteristics. They still had trouble with connecting with their own, as they never felt the need to be in a group before. The female Slizards would form a pact, but the males still left to themselves unless it was mating season.

A couple hundred years later, you would see the first Slizard language. It was crude and consisted of grunts and low-rumbling like noises. But it did convey crucial messages if they needed help or were in danger. What is beautiful, is that no matter how lone a Slizard was, their instinct would be protect one of their own species, even if they weren’t on the best terms.

A couple hundred years later would you see Slizards start walking on their back legs. Their tails got naturally shorter as there was little need for it. Their arms would get stronger and claws sharper. They were still natural predators, following their ancestors, but this time used their arms and sharp claws to skewer fish right out of the water.

Long after that came a more complex language, and Slizards started displaying more human-like emotions. This includes sadness, happiness, anger, and sympathy.

They even had their own ritual of the dead. This would mean that the Slizard pact would come together and mourn the dead, and each Slizard would offer something to the dead. It would usually be something that they would catch. If it was a prominent member of their pact, some would not eat for days, lingering on starvation, as these Slizards needed constant food.

As Slizards became more and more human-like, the stronger they became. Here comes the sad truth. As a strong, loyal species, they were often taking from their pacts and enslaved. They were subject to endless labor and beatings on the daily. Why didn’t the Slizards fight back? It’s not a question of why they did not. It’s because the could not.

Humans were more technologically advanced. Having just evolved so they could speak with each other, and see clearly, Slizards had no chance. The sound of a gun firing almost paralyzed them. Because of this they were taken advantage of. Countless generations of Slizards would be enslaved for countless generations to come.

Until slavery was abolished. This gave Slizards time to rebuild their dignity and strength.
