TO THE TOWN
✧
"ENJOY YOUR TIME, MISTRESS," Lilac and the other servants line up with their heads respectfully bent, seeing the young woman off. Seraphina gives a slight head nod before the carriage begins its journey to visit the heart of their village, the town market. She wishes to leave an impression on her people without horribly leaving without a trace. Leaving everyone to guess where she went.
She doesn't desire to be that person. Even at a younger age, she didn't want to be couped up in her home. She wanted to explore and perhaps play with the other kids. But that rarely ever happened, as her parents were overprotective of their little princess. Not willing to let commoners or strangers taint her innocent heart. Pushing her childhood regrets to the side, this is her chance to experience the wonder of her village that she never did.
Finally, the wooden wheels come to a stop as Seraphina opens her door ready to explore.
The sounds of bustling people and rolling carts fill Seraphina's ears. She looks at the faintly familiar sight before her, the town has changed a lot since years ago.
As she begins her stroll into the market, a feeling of comfort rushes through her. She watches little children dirtying up their clothes by playing and running around. The loud smiles and infectious giggles make the feeling pulse strongly.
Her icy, sharp eyes catch the various shops and stores that stare at her with curious whispers. Those homey feelings are soon replaced by the foreignness of being gawked at like a stranger in her own village.
She awkwardly stands in the busy street returning the glances until she feels a light tap on her shoulder.
An elderly woman with light purple fading grey hair offers her a hand with a sweet grin. Seraphina sheepishly bows as she accepts the woman's help and heads over to the side of the road.
"Are ya lost, darling?" The lady politely asks quickly letting go of her hand, not wanting her to be uncomfortable.
"I wouldn't say lost, I just came to do a bit of shopping. It's been quite a while." Seraphina relays the situation to her.
"Well I own this restaurant with a couple of ladies, why don't you come in and sit down we'll get you everything you need!" The woman generously offers.
Seraphina yelps as she is dragged into the restaurant without a chance to give her answer. Seraphina glances around the simple-styled restaurant. The color of a chestnut pops out on the counters and tables. The drapes are colored a wintery white with a few designs.
It's a breath of fresh air.
"Yama!" She hears a flowery voice call out from behind the counter.
"I thought I said bring in more customers, it's been two hours! Why in the hell were you out for so long? Did you even bring back anybody," the woman stands tall with some clean cups in her hands wearing an annoyed expression on her face. But it slowly disappears as she curiously glances at Seraphina.
Setting the cups down with a clank, a smile appears on the woman's bright, pink lips.
"It's an honor, Princess Seraphina."
