I was used to seeing women walking with iron necklaces around their necks. My town, so noisy because of the sound of whipping from the slave sellers, who disciplinated the sale. And I kept blaming in my mind, the city without equality was disgusting.
In this city women are the embodiment of bad luck and black magic, slavery is considered the only way to control bad things. Women who are not subservient to men, labeled as cultists of heretics, sound sad but just as they are, so I pretend to be a man, and even raise my voice to be a little more masculine. I don't have any status in this city because I'm a runaway slave.
I, who was staring at the peace monument, was shocked by the little girl who bumped into me. She looked fragile, with tattered clothes.
"Help me," she whispered as she held my hand, the girl looking frustrated. Then I realized that he was a slave, just like me, it was so obvious from the iron necklace he wore around his neck. And that was my first meeting with Mahardika, who is now my sister.
My adventure with my sister, starting from that moment, we had the same dream, to build equality in this city, because I wanted there to be no more slavery to women. My journey to achieve that was obviously not easy, even so, I didn't want to start freedom from violence, because as the saying goes, "Heroism is not born from the dirty way"
I started secretly setting up a school for women who had no status, I taught them to read and write, as well as how to deal with the nobles.
"Maybe we are considered weak by men, but we still have one mainstay weapon, which is intelligence, with which we can finish off their arrogance," I said firmly while teaching.
Schools that were originally built for women, now there are starting to be interested from men who support equality. Over the years I built a good name and background so that there would be no doubt. My sister and I also entered the world of politics, ran for the election of the city's leader for a period of 10 years, which was enough time to improve the city.
I still haven't uncovered my identity, because this will be my trump card, for later after I become the absolute leader, this sounds crazy, but I will try hard, so that equality is really upright on the already dirty ground.
In the election, I presented my vision mission of building this city to be better, everyone is starting to be interested, of course, it is because my program is to create a school that can be connected to various jobs. I am not explaining that in such schools not only for boys but also for girls, this is not a wicked way to use lies as a foothold to touch people's minds.
As I expected, everyone opposed me once I was elected leader of this city, because my ideology was about equality. Coupled with the revelation of my identity which turned out to be a woman.
"Equality?" The truth is, women have always been a source of bad luck, don't make this city suffer sin, just because of your ridiculous ideology, damn it!" shouted a man. Which is then supported by other parties.
"If you don't agree, then you can leave this city, as the rules are, whoever the leader is elected, then every rule is absolute," I said emphatically. This time I couldn't have lost easily, everyone who supported my idea, more than the people who opposed me.
After many rebellions, no matter how many death threats, it did not dampen my resolve, within two years I managed to eliminate the trafficking of women and the city that was originally known as the city of slavery, now known as the city of equality
