I finished Gintama the other day. I read a comment on a youtube video saying “the people who watched Gintama are the happiest people on earth.”
I don’t know, I don’t have words to describe how Gintama made me feel. It was a whole journey… and even though I binged it across a couple of months, it feels like Gintama has been with me for years. I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing show in terms of animation, plot, character development etc. but somehow all the characters became embedded so deeply within me that parting with them felt like tearing away a portion of my heart.
A bit dramatic, but my heart wrenches every time I listen to the last opening and “hana ichi monme”.
Yorozuya forever. Peace.
Highly recommend for cultured people over 20. Not too recommend for kids and those who don’t appreciate slapstick humour. I jus need someone to suffer with me hahaha
