Theme: Have you ever wondered what a chair, an old book, or even a forgotten key in your pocket might "think"? This contest invites you to step into the mind of an inanimate object and bring it to life in your writing. Choose any object, whether mundane or extraordinary, and tell a story from its unique point of view.

Challenge: Write a narrative from the perspective of an object. What does it "see," "feel," or "experience" as it sits quietly in the background of people's lives? Does it hold memories? Is it a silent observer of the world around it? From an emotional tale to a humorous twist, the possibilities are endless when the world is viewed through a non-human lens.

Guidelines:

Whether your story delves into the poignant history of a cherished memento or the quirky observations of an everyday item, make your object the star and let it shine with a story only it can tell.

Make a short story based on this prompt :

1. Forgotten Memories

Write a story about someone who discovers an old box in their attic. Inside the box are items that remind them of their childhood. Each item triggers a different memory, but one item brings back something they wish to forget. How do they confront this memory?

2. Different Perspectives

Tell the story of an important event in someone’s life from the perspective of another person who was present at the scene. How do their memories of the event differ? What do they remember, and how does this shape their relationship in the future?

3. Footprints of Time

A writer finds their grandfather's diary, which contains accounts of his experiences during wartime. Each entry transports the writer into their grandfather’s memories, revealing pain, hope, and life lessons. What impact does this discovery have on the writer's own outlook on life?

4.Rediscovering Identity

A young woman struggles to remember significant moments after experiencing partial memory loss. Through found photos and love letters, she embarks on a journey to rediscover her identity. What does she learn about herself?

5. Memory Space

Create a world where everyone has a personal "memory space" that can be accessed at any time. However, there is a rule that they cannot visit others' memory spaces. One day, a character breaks this rule and uncovers something shocking about their friend. What happens next?

6. Sand Step

A young man returns to the beach where he spent his childhood with his family. As he walks along the shore, he finds footprints that remind him of cherished moments. Each footprint brings back different memories, but one reminds him of a loss he has never faced. How does he confront this pain?

7. Letters from the Past

A woman receives a mysterious letter written by herself ten years ago. The letter contains hopes and dreams she once had, as well as advice for her future self. As she reads it, she begins to reflect on her life choices. What does she learn about herself through this letter?

8. Memoir Album

A photographer discovers an old photo album belonging to her grandmother filled with images from the past. Each photo tells a unique story and reveals family secrets long hidden. As she investigates further, what does she uncover about her family's legacy and how does it affect her identity?

9.Return to First Place

After years away, someone returns to their elementary school for a reunion. During this visit, they recall friends and childhood experiences that shaped who they are today. What do they learn about themselves and their relationships with people from their past?

10. The Lost Harmony

A musician writes a song inspired by beautiful memories shared with a loved one. When the song becomes famous, they face questions about its true meaning and how memories can change over time. How does the process of creating this song help them understand their relationship and feelings?

11. Map of Memories

An explorer creates a map depicting all the significant places in their life—from their childhood home to other important locations. Each point on this map holds unique stories connecting them to people and experiences that have profoundly influenced them. What emotional journey do they experience while drawing this map?

12. Lost Time

A scientist discovers a way to return to the past for one day. They decide to revisit pivotal moments in their life—both joyful and painful—to understand how those experiences shaped them. What do they learn about the importance of memory in their life?

13. Buried Words

An adult suddenly recalls forgotten childhood memories after hearing a particular song. The memory brings back traumatic experiences long buried. How do they confront these memories, and what impact does it have on their current life?

14. Postcards from the Past

Someone finds a series of old postcards in their attic, each addressed to themselves at different ages throughout their life. Each postcard conveys messages and hopes from their younger self. What impact do these messages have on how they view their current life?

15. Daydream Nightmares

A teenager frequently experiences nightmares about traumatic events from their past. In an effort to understand these dreams, they discover that these nightmares are their subconscious's way of coping with painful memories. How does this journey of self-discovery help them find peace?
