Chapter 8
The next morning I awoke to a knock at my door. When I open it I see Mr Claude. Behind him is a servant pushing a trolley loaded with food. They place the food on my desk before leaving. “ Please be in the throne room at 10 am,” said Claude, pulling a small box out of his pocket. He leaves after handing it to me.
Opening the box I found a letter. It is from the king and queen. It read * Dear Nia. Here is a watch that has the time of our world and your world. The blue hands are for otherworld and the white hands are for your world. We hope you like it. Yours truly. The king and queen.
Underneath the letter was the most beautiful pocket watch. It's a crystal watch with delicate gold stems and leaves inlaid on the case. The chain was made of a rose gold with crystal flowers budding off the chain as if the chain was the stem.
Checking the time i realize its 9 am. Sitting down at my desk to eat the delicious breakfast that they had brought me. Then i get changed. I pull on a green tunic that has long ball peasant sleeves with a dark green shoulder cape. On top of the tunic i pull on a leather corset and a lose leather belt. Then i pull on my long green trousers and my thigh high leather boots and gloves. I pull my hair back into a pony tail with a few strands left out on either side of my face.
I leave my room at 9:45 so that i can be early. On my way i wave at all of the maids and servants and they all wave back. This place is feeling more and more like home by the day. I meet up with Jasper and together we head to the throne room.
When we arrive the queen is waiting on the throne with the king by her side. Jasper and I are the first ones here. After a few minutes a small goblin girl carrying a huge backpack walks in. She had green skin and was probably three feet tall. She had very long ears and was wearing a white dress with a brown corset and a brown shawl around her hips. Her dark green hair was shoulder length and she wore a cute red headband. She waved to me trying to not topple over from her huge bag.
Next to arrive was a beautiful faun. She had large brown antlers and long white hair she was wearing a green dress with short sleeves with a bishop sleeve white underdress. She wore a green shoulder cape. She had two large belts and a hip bag attached to one. Adorning her belts were potion bottles and other trinkets like crystals and even a whistle. She smiled at us when she walked in.
After her came two dragon newts. The female had black hair with red ends that reach her shoulders. Her wings were folded against her back neatly. She wore a red dress with a black bow. The male dragon newt had black hair with blue ends. He wore light armor with a blue scarf. Both of them didnt make eye contact as they entered.
The last person to arrive was a elf. He had dark skin and long braided hair. The right side of his head was shaved and his hair was braided into a mohawk. He wore heavy armor and was carrying his helmet under his arm.
When everyone has arrived the queen rises. She beacons us to follow her and leads us to a large room with a giant circle table. It made me fell like i was at the round table with king Arthur. Once everyone has been seat the queen begins to speak. “ let us introduce ourselves.” she said. I started then jasper dose. The goblin girl is Meeg. the faun is Terea. The two dragon newts were Fanyrre and Fradre who are twins. Lastly was Ekon the elf. He has a very serious look on his face and he seemed a little bit unapproachable.
Once all the introductions were done the queen spoke again.” You are all here for one important reason. To stop the darkness from destroying our home. You will all aid Nia in her quest to defeat the man controlling the darkness, Drake void.”
Everyone nodded. “ you must prepare for the first task: making it through the first shrine, the shrine of wind. Nia will lead you. You leave in 5 days”. The others look around shocked but Jasper and I just nod. We know what we must do.
The queen claps her hands and the meeting adjourns. As we leave I hear the others whisper behind my back. “ how is she supposed to lead us if she can’t even fight” whispers Fanyrre covering her mouth. I can feel the others stares drilling into my back.
Jasper walks my side. He can tell it’s bothering me. “ don’t listen to them” he whispers. Just focus on what you need to do” I nod but I can’t shake the feeling.
When we reach the hall my room is in I quickly walk to my room and slam the door. When I’m sure the others are gone I head to the priests church.
When I arrive the priest is expecting me. He hands me a cup of tee before pulling out the crystal ball we used to visit other me. But this time I will go alone.
As I close my eyes I let the familiar feeling take over. When I open my eyes she is there waiting for me. When I finish explaining the situation she nods.
I can transfer all of my ability to fight to you but you will still need to train. Are you up for it. She asks. I nod eager to prove myself. She touches her forehead to mine.
Suddenly a burst of images fill my mind. When it is over I look at her and she nods. It’s time for me to go back. When I open my eyes I thank the priest and run to make it to lunch.
During lunch I don’t speak a word instead I scoff down my food before excusing myself. I head to the courtyard where the knights are practicing. Watching over them is a large man whom I assume if Draco.
He notices me and lumbers over.” You must be Nia” he says shaking my hand. “ now what can I do for you, little miss” he asks?
When I’m done explaining the situation he nods. He looks around and calls to one of the knights who come over to us. “ this is Alex which is short for Alexadrite. He can help you train” Alex bows to me. The together the two up us hear to a more secluded spot in the courtyard to discuss our training schedule.
We decided to meet every morning at 5 am for training. That night I requested to eat dinner in my room so I can study the information other me gave me so I’m prepared for tomorrow. Jasper comes to check on me but I’m already in bed and I pretended to be asleep.
The next morning I get up at 4:30 am so I can put on my comfortable training outfit. Just as I finish strapping on my leather armor I hear a knock at my door. It’s Alex. Together we head to three courtyard.
First Alex wants to do a mock battle to see what I can do. When he attacked the images other sent me came rushing into my mind and I managed to dodge th3 first attack with ease.
This surprises Alex but he attacks again. This time I deftly block the attack with the dagger he gave me. He keeps attacking trying to find an opportunity to strike but I can block before he finds one. This continues for a few minutes until I’m gasping for breath.
Alex stops and nods. “ From now on we will work on your endurance.” He says. Once I catch my breath. For the rest of the morning we work on endurance.
By the time it’s breakfast I’m completely exhausted, so much so that I can barely walk back to my room to get changed and wash myself. When I sit at the break table I’m so tired I nearly fall asleep.
Jasper keeps nudging me every time I start to doze off confused as to why I can’t stay awake. After breakfast I went and took a long nap, locking my door. Jasper came by to check on me but I ignored him again, I just wanted to sleep.
For the next four days I trained with Alex every morning to the point of exhaustion. But my endurance was getting better and better by the day. Soon I could run around the palace a few times without getting too winded and I could keep up with Alex's quick movements. On the fifth night I fell asleep knowing I wouldn't hold anyone back tomorrow.
