Chapter 4
When I open my eyes I'm back in the middle of the lake. The others still have their eyes closed. There in front of me, sitting in one of the larger crystals was me. She waves hoping down walking over to me. “ your majesty,” she says, causing the queen to open her eyes. She looks between the two of us clearly surprised. The others open their eyes. Claude looks like he might faint and prince Jasper looks like he saw a ghost. The priest was completely unfazed and was slightly amused at the others' expense.
Other me bows to the queen and the prince and nod at Claude who nods back, still awestruck. Then she turns to me. “Welcome back” she says. “I assume you came back for guidance?” I nod. The queen then takes over. “We need help with defeating the darkness. We know that we need Nia, we don't know how.” other me nods. “ for Nia to become her true most powerful self she must obtain the seven 7 elements which are water, earth, fire, air lightning, light and dark.” the queen nods. The priest speaks up ”do you mean the seven elements form the seven elemental shrines” other me nods.
The priest's face falls. He shakes his head looking absolutely forlorn. The queen turns to him confused. He sees the question in her eyes” the seven elemental shrines are booby trapped. Its nearly impossible to get through them. Other me laughs. “ That may be true for the average fae but Nia is no mere fae” first she must find the crystal of truth. It is hidden in the crystal caves. She will know what it is when she sees it.”
“ Then when she finds the crystal she will transform into her fae form. Then and only then will she be able to maneuver herself and a team through the shrines. This is the only way. But you must act soon. The darkness is attempting to find the crystal caves and destroy it.”
The queen nods. But she doesn’t seem sure. Suddenly darkness begins to creep into my vision. I can tell the others see it too.
“ It is time,” other me says. “ I will be here if you need guidance.” I wave as the darkness completely consumes me. When i open my eyes other me is gone and we are back in the church.
When everyone else has opened their eyes they look to the queen. She is deep in thought. The room is silent, everyone is unsure. Just as she is about to open her mouth to speak a large burly man enters the room. When he sees the queen his face lights up. “ Boo boo bear” he exclaims picking up the queen spinning her around. “ onyx!” she says surprised. After setting her down Onxy looks around the room. “ why is everyone so glum” he asks confused. Then he spots me.
He lumbers over grabbing my hand and shaking it vigorously. “ you must be Nia. My boo boo bear was so excited to meet you” he says clearly excited. I look over to the queen who is blushing profusely. “ It's nice to meet you” I say as he lets go of my hand. “ Dad leave the poor girl alone,” says prince Jasper, who is grinning. The second that The king had walked into the room everything seemed to light up. The king is a large man with long black hair just like his son.
He had the biggest bushiest beard I have ever seen. He looked a little bit intimidating but he was really nice. The queen sighs but she is smiling. “ we need to get Nia to the crystal caves. The only problem is that they are an absolute maze. No one knows how to navigate through them.”
The king stops smiling “ that is serious” he says stroking his beard. “ but we have to try right” I say “ your world is at risk here” the queen grabs me and looks into my eyes. “ I will not risk your life over something that you have no connection to” she says releasing me she says “ we will find another way” she marches out of the room and everyone follows her except the priest.
When he is sure that everyone is out of earshot he pulls a piece of paper out of his pocket. He smiles while handing it to me. “ you see there are only two people who know where the crystal caves are located,” he says, winking.
I nod catching on “ go” he says, knowing full well that I was going to go anyway. I run out of the room. When I reach the room Amari and I share I kiss my little brother on the forehead telling him to be good while I’m gone.
He nods, giving me a big hug. As I sneakily exit the palace I grab a bag of food from a acolyte that the head priest sent. As I leave the place through the back entrance the acolyte described. I steel my nerves wrapping the cloak given to me by the acolyte around my shoulders. I take one more look at the beautiful palace before disappearing into the night
