Leah was feeling helpless. Whenever her family and friends gathered together, her husband Colt was never present.
Leah always got embarrassed.
She had to tell everyone that he couldn't make it, and recieved the looks which said 'You chose the wrong guy.'
But this time, Leah was not going to hear the taunts of the people.
So, she made a plan. To show everyone that Colt would come. And she would make sure he did.
But the question was, how.
Leah sprung back into the couch and buried herself into it to think.
Suddenly she was approached by someone.
"Leah?" the person called out. When Leah turned her gaze to see the person, there stood before her Devon, her ex boyfriend.
"Ugh..." Leah groaned and a distasteful looked dawned upon her face.
Devon raised his eyebrows and questioned, "Not happy to see me?"
"Oh no. I am very happy to see you." Leah said sarcastically.
Devon rolled his eyes and asked, "Why are you being so salty?"
"Because salt goes along with my sweet ass personality." said Leah calmly.
Devon sighed softly. This girl was the same as before.
"Where is Colt?" he asked, just to irritate her.
"He is busy." Leah said coldly.
"Busy? Why is he busy?" the man enquired.
"Are you sure your parents didn't drop you on your head or are you just that dumb? Someone is busy when they are actually doing something, unlike you, who is sitting at his home jobless."
Oof. Leah roasted him pretty badly.
Devon just shaked his head and went away.
Leah tried to think of ways to bring Colt to the party, when she heard a shrill sound.
Ting-Ting-Ting, the sound of a spoon touching a glass echoed throughout the room and everyone turned their attention towards the person raising a toast.
"Good evening everyone!"
And who would it be other than Devon.
"Tonight, I would like to raise a toast for Leah and her husband Colt who is never there for her!"
Everyone turned their gaze to Leah, who was fuming with anger. "Devon, what the heck! Stop this!" she shouted.
"No Leah, everyone should see what your so-called husband does for you. He isn't there for you, ever." said Devon.
Leah stomped over to him and yelled, "Colt is always there for me! And today he will be here!"
Devon smirked and said, "Let's see, whether your perfect man will make it or not."
The people soon went on with their own business.
Leah called Colt but it reached his voicemail. She said, "Colt, I don't care where you are, I need you to come to Mama's house right now, and now means now. It's the question of my dignity.

Two hours had passed since Leah had called Colt, and still there was still no sign of him, even she had lost hope of seeing him.
Some guests told Leah's dad, "We must go now, although Colt wasn't here today..."
A man entered the house with boxes in his hand and said, "Colt Smith has sent these gifts for everyone." He kept the boxes and went away.
Leah was disappointed. She sighed heavily, got up from the couch and announced, "You see, Colt wasn't able to make it here today but he made sure to send us some gifts."
"Who said Colt wasn't able to make it? He is here!" said someone, and it was none other than Colt!
Leah was overjoyed on seeing her husband. She sprinted towards him and they both embraced each other.
"Thank you for being here." Leah said affectionately as she removed some strands of Colt's black hair from his forehead.
"I am here now, and will always be here for you. As soon as I got your voicemail I knew that this means a lot to you, and I will never let my wife down." said Colt.
Leah smiled at him and buried her head into his chest, feeling wonderful and loved.
After that day, Leah always felt proud that her husband wasn't able to make it, she knew what he was doing was for her and their family and she loved him for that.
She understood that no matter what people say, your loved ones are the people who will stick with you till the end, and even if they can't take out time for you, they are the ones you love you and you are going to stand by you when you need them.
