I stared at her with sudden understanding. Josh had always told me he had a little sister. She died when she was nine. He always beat himself up about it, told me it was his fault. Even dead, I still remember picking up the phone in the middle of the night because Josh had dreamed about her dying again.
He wouldn't tell me what had happened, he said it was dangerous for me to know, that it was the reason he was on the run. I had respected that, though I would always wonder what happened to her that would wake him up in the middle of the night screaming and crying.
"You're her?" I asked, a look of shock on my face. She gave my a confused look.
"Whose 'her'" She asked, staring at me in a whole different way now.
"Josh's little sister. The one who died." She looked down.559Please respect copyright.PENANAhYEItX7xZI
She nodded. "Yeah. Yeah I'm her I guess. How do you know him?"
"We're friends." I lied quickly. 'Boyfriend' would have been a little to awkward for the current situation.
She narrowed her eyes at me, but luckily I had had years of practice in lying, and so she gave a simple nod and left.
I leaned back, closing my eyes, but I couldn't sleep. My thoughts were now swirling around in my head much to fast for that. Little sister. This girl, was Josh's little sister. The one that woke him up almost every night in his dreams.
I wished I had my journal, it was one of the few things that could get me to sleep when I had a lot to think about. But sadly, it was back in the virtual world.
That thought made me think of the virtual world, which made me think of Josh, which made me think of the fact that he was getting killed right now. Which terrified me.
Abd so I drifted into a sleep full of death and little sisters.
