She sits alone in her room, browsing the web, and enjoying the time she has to herself. She reads and watches videos and imagines what it would be like if she were in those stories. She's alone but not lonely.
At a family BBQ she sits by the table in the scorching sun.
There's her nephew, playing with his mommy and watching his daddy grill meat.
There's her other sister-in-law, rocking her baby and chatting happily to the baby's grandmother.
There's her brothers, grilling meat and talking about fishing. Everybody is enjoying themselves.
But she sits alone and thinks about how nothing would change if she just went back to her room. Her being out here didn't make a difference to anyone. If she wasn't here then the mothers would still be taking care of their kids and her brothers would still be grilling meat.
She can be alone but not lonely. But being lonely when surrounded by people who love her is something she has to get over.
