Trust. A five letter word that everyone talks about. I was one of those children born just prior to the outbreak of the Civil War between the Nobility and the Crown. I was only two when the war broke out, and so there are very few pictures of me as a baby or child. The first memory I have is adults arguing over who to trust.
Trust in the crumbling Imperial Forces or trust in the rapidly advancing Nobility Forces. Despite using the word 'trust', it felt more like trying to decide on which side would win. I was about five and I remember hearing them discussing about how Raine City fell despite a spirited defense and it was only a matter of time before the rest followed suit. That day we followed the Nobility. We trusted that they would do the right thing. At the time I didn't understand why we'd trust anything but our own leader. Perhaps it was simply me being a child.
The Nobility lost the war, and the Crown exerted heavy tolls on Malbard. We had misplaced our trust, and it rekindled memories of another time we mistrusted. Viserys. Despite having an uneasy truce as allies in World War 2, we had moved forces away from the Malbard/Viserys border believing our ally would not attack us. As history tells us, Viserys not only attacked, but decimated what little defenders we had left in Malbard. We were completely overrun. Once again paying for misplaced trust.
Then came the Royal Challenge last year. Marina Del Sol challenged High Queen Yuki Sol, in what we refer to as the Marinara Incident. Yuki put her trust in us, and we delivered. Returning the trust we had built up over the past few years after the war and she lifted the levies against us. Finally, perhaps Malbard put their trust in the right place. Yuki had proven her worth, yet I at least still remained guarded.
Despite the Community saying we are a trusted ally, they are sending a weapons inspection team to confirm our government's claim that we didn't use our weapon stores in the Agskabrael War. Viserys continues to teeter perilously close to open war, despite Yuki's assurances that Viktor is somewhat trustworthy. Katelia... well we never really trusted them to do anything right anyways, but Norwend was a Rasian disappointment for allowing a criminal to run for leadership position.
It's taken ten years to trust High Queen Yuki. And yet over the span of two weeks, she's lost almost all of it, worst of all to the most untrustworthy of sources. Yet despite knowing Kolo, Oz and the XLF are deserving of whatever punishment being meted out, I somehow feel as if there is something amiss. Perhaps my trust, like so many from Malbard before me, is now misplaced. However, for now, I continue to trust in High Queen Yuki, at least until there is irrefutable proof that she is no longer worthy of my trust. And should that happens, she'll need another twenty years to get it back.239Please respect copyright.PENANAFX2w4N6H1L
