A week went by where both Humans and Midarans had their armies ready for war. The Midarans were relaxed because they had better weaponry, a bigger army, and of course elemental powers. The Humans were extremely outmatched with a small army and barely enough weapons and ammunition. Sahel didn’t want this war, but he wasn’t going to let the Midarans win unscathed. King Silas had no worries about defeat, he was just sad that their relationship between humans was short.
The Humans were unable to leave Midara because they did not have enough fuel to make it back home, back to Earth. Sahel also did not want to return prematurely to his brother whom he had made a promise to start a human civilization on Midara.
Dante and Enzo were both isolated in their respective rooms, neither allowed to leave unless accompanied by someone. The boys were scared for each other because it was possible that they both die.
The weeks turned to months and eventually a whole year went by with such thick tension. Worry was visible on everyone’s face, and it was possible to count their sweat droplets. King Silas decided enough was enough and launched the first attack. This wasn’t meant to eradicate humans, so he sent his lowest ranking members. First, he sent wind users that blew down any weak structure in the Human city. Sahel and the humans were nearly beat already because their bullets would not be able to hit the Midarans with such strong opposing winds. However, Sahel was prepared with tunnels underground where his best stealth soldiers could appear and assassinate whoever came close. Soon, the wind users stepped close, and the stealth soldiers came out like moles and got rid of the wind users as if they were never there.
Enzo heard the commotion and look out his hospital window where he saw the destruction of the wind users and their dead bodies. He ran past the security in the hospital and headed towards the battlefield. Word got out immediately that Enzo escaped the hospital. Now Sahel had two big problems, the Midarans sent water users and fire specialists, and his soon to be trump card, Enzo, was on the loose. Enzo got to the battlefield only to be knocked down by high pressured water. Before he got up he mustered all the energy he could and thought of a way to stop this battle at once. The Midarans and humans kept exchanging kills but Midara outnumbered the humans significantly. Enzo got up and raised his palms to the sky in front of him. This was his first attempt at using his new powers. He screamed in agony and felt like all his veins would pop. He created a massive wall of fire that was blistering enough to hurt the water users, so they retreated. The fire specialists thought they could get through but to no avail, Enzo’s wall of fire was burning as strong as the sun which made it so no one could in and no one could get out. Enzo passed out right after the wall was erected. The wall of fire surrounded the Human city and brought a swift end to the fight.

During this time, Dante was sleeping and had a strange dream. He saw a shadowy figure and couldn’t decide if it was a handsome man or a gorgeous woman. He stepped closer and immediately recognized who it was and tried to scream.
“Hush,” the figure said, “We are only just beginning.”
Dante woke up in a cold sweat, panting, and had tears in his eyes. He was scared and began to pace around in his room. That’s when he finally looked out the window and saw the wall of fire. He could tell it was Enzo’s doing and a rush of questions came in his mind. Did Enzo die to make that wall? Or, if the wall is up does that means that Enzo is fine? Why did he make the wall anyway? Dante tried to get off the bed, but he felt a sharp pain ring through his whole body and cried in anguish. He began to remember people he had never seen before and places he had never been. The confusion quickly turned into panic when he realized what was happening and who that figure was. He fainted once the realization came to him.
Both of the boys woke up in their own respective hospitals. Enzo was surrounded by Sahel and Neema both with different emotions. Sahel was glad to see Enzo was alive and nearly cried. Neema was disgusted that a Lucifero allowed humans to live another day and was hoping that Enzo would never wake up. Enzo was in severe pain and couldn’t move so he was bed ridden for weeks to come. Dante had his mom and dad at his sides when he woke up. He had a migraine and memories would come in and out. Both King Silas and Queen Crimson were ecstatic to see their son wake up. The King was glad that he still had a chance to raise the Dante to become the hero of Midara that would stop the meaningless violence. The Queen simply wanted her son to live a long fulfilling life. Dante could barely remember the dream he had the night before, but he remembered his fear. He decided that he would train to become the most powerful person on Midara. He wanted to defend his people and at the same time he felt that being powerful would help him overcome his unknown fear.
Enzo also wanted to become stronger so that the humans could live the lives they rightfully deserve. I’m a Lucifero, Enzo thought, my life is worth less than the others so I will use it to defend all humans.

After a month, both boys couldn’t wait to start their training. First, however, they had to finish school. Each semester was filled with boring arithmetic, and neither could wait until they reached required age to join their military. For Dante it was age 18 and for Enzo, because he is a Lucifero, it was age 16. Throughout their schooling, it was possible to forget that Midarans and humans were on the same planet until you reached the border and saw the towering wall of fire.

Four years after the Fire Wall, Enzo had finally turned 16. He had practiced his powers a little during school, but Neema and Sahel always supervised him and cut him off once they felt he practiced enough. Now, since he signed up to join the army, he would have the free will to train whenever he saw fit. He would not need a supervisor and would never be cut off. His first day in the military was next week.
