Enzo’s procedure started with enough anesthetics to make you numb for days. He was put to sleep because this surgery was dangerous and if Enzo died Sahel wished for it to be peacefully. After Sahel put Enzo to sleep, five doctors came into the room with unhuman tools. Their plan was to alter Enzo’s DNA using Midaran blood and radiation found on the planet. To do that they needed Midaran tools to open Enzo’s DNA, use the radiation to have his DNA make mutations, and then use the Midaran blood to make his changes give him the Midaran power. The tool they used looked like a telescope with a sharp point on one end to open Enzo just enough to see his DNA. This procedure was to be taken cautiously and no one knew how long it might take.
Miraculously, Enzo lived. However, the doctors nor Sahel were sure if Enzo received the Midaran powers. Regardless, Enzo had a lot of physical therapy that he would have to complete until he was allowed to leave the hospital. That is, if he was still 100% human. If the surgery successfully altered his DNA, then Enzo would be part Midaran meaning he would heal faster. Enzo needed rest too, so it was only a matter of time to see if Enzo would become a super soldier like Sahel intended.

“It’s about time you learned of the power us Midarans are capable of,” King Silas replied. He then went on to explain how Midarans have the power to control basic elements. Fire, wind, water, and lightning. Each Midaran is born with an innate ability to control at least one element depending on which element their parents could control. So, a child of two fire users would control fire. Elements could also mix, so a child of wind and fire users may have the potential to create smoke. The nature element can only be used by the royal family because they have a deep connection with the planet. There have been no reports of anyone but royalty controlling nature.
There were also levels of expertise in controlling the elements. Users and Specialists were the ranks of controlling elements. The main difference was that a User could only summon their element while a specialist could become the element. For example: if someone were to punch a wind user, the user would get hurt. However, for a wind specialist, the fist would go through them because they can become wind, granting the specialist a kind of invincibility. Dante was the youngest Midaran to ever show this kind of power. The common age for kids to release any kind of power, let alone a presence, was ten. So, he promised to train with his father once he was out of the hospital so he can protect Midarans and humans.
The school notified all the students about what happened, and they too were told about all the powers that the Midarans had. The Human kids were shocked and were scared to be around the Midarans. The Midaran kids were discriminated against in school at a new level and the King had to act fast or tensions between humans would escalate. The King decided that it would be best that Humans and Midarans attended their own respective schools until they are of a mature age to not judge each other. Around this time the King’s Guard informed the King on some suspicious behavior they saw in the Human city. “It was one of their leaders that wanted the school to tell the kids about Dante,” Duval stated. Duval was one of the most trusted and loyal in the King’s Guard, so the King believed everything he said.
“And that’s not all, your majesty,” Frida continued. Frida was a prodigy on the King’s Guard and would be in the frontlines for almost all operations. “We noticed two of our soldiers from the army missing. We found them in the Human City behind a tall building, dead. We searched the building which looked abandoned but with more scouting we found something terrifying. It looked as if they were injecting a little human boy with Midaran blood. My guess is that they are trying to infuse Midaran power into the human boy.”
The King was silent, however, he didn’t doubt them one bit. The Midaran power is strong and nearly unstoppable, at least for Humans. It would make perfect sense for Humans to try to steal their power.
“What were the soldiers’ elements and ranks,” the King asked.
“One was a fire and wind specialist. The other was a lightning specialist,” Frida answered, “I believe they were the ones who were supposed to meet with the human and exchange blood at the checkpoint.”

“Then make sure all of the water specialists in our army are safe,” King Silas ordered, “They are trying to create a super soldier with all elements and then the boy will train to be a specialist in at least one. If that happens, he will be unstoppable.”
