Enzo was able to escape his confinement easily because all the leaders of the humans had an meeting to discuss what course of action they should take. They also made sure that this meeting was secure and had extra security to prevent any Midarans from spying on them. This also meant the surveillance on Enzo was lacking.
This meeting consisted of Neema, the commander of the military. He oversaw most of what went on in the military except for Enzo’s training. Despite looking like his father, Neema’s personality could not be anymore different. His goal in this meeting was to urge the other leaders to launch their attack on Midara. He had a plan B too just in case the leaders don’t agree with him.
Dr. Diallo was also in attendance. He was the head doctor in charge of anything medical. He was also the one that took the lead in Enzo’s surgery. His skin was dark, and he had dreadlocks and put them in a ponytail. He came wearing a lab coat with a light blue button-up and khakis; typical doctor attire and a clipboard with information regarding Enzo’s surgery. He wishes to keep Enzo safe until he fully controls all the powers that he has.
The superintendent for all the schools, Dr. Bravo, attended the meeting as well. She was a Latina who carried a presence. If someone crossed her that would be the last time they ever did that. She let her short curly hair down and wore an ethnic dress that was black and had flowers surrounding the collar. She wanted to ensure that if there is a war, all students stay in school instead of being drafted.
Last, and most certainly not least, Sahel. King, President, Chief, Leader, Boss were some of the names that humans called him. Back on Earth, he and his brother were considered heroes. If he could have just as much courage as he did back then, then maybe things wouldn’t have escalated this far. He wished to used diplomacy to settle things with Midara and find a way back home.
Alongside each leader were there right-hand man or woman except for Sahel; he came alone. The meeting was held in the room where the hologram system was. Once everyone found a seat around the system and the security was firmly in place, the meeting begun.
Sahel was the first to speak, “Good evening everyone, I won’t waste time with small talk and start with the first topic on the agenda: Midara. Right now, we are in a cold war state where neither side wants to attack first and neither side wishes to speak to each other.”227Please respect copyright.PENANA8bHxDObf0d
“And no one can do shit because of that fire,” Neema interrupted.
"We can worry about the wall later,” Sahel continued, “Because we need to discuss whether or not we are willing to enter a war or use diplomacy to reach a compromise.”
Dr. Bravo said, “I suggest diplomacy. I do not want any of my students to be dragged into a pointless war and be killed.”
Sahel looked around the room before he said, “I agree with you Doctor. Diplomacy is our best chance at survival because we are heavily outmatched.”
“What about that boy,” Neema countered.
“He isn’t ready for battle,” Dr. Diallo stated, “As of now, he can only use flames but there are other elements he should be able to control. If you want a war so bad then I suggest we use patience first so that the boy can be the super soldier we want him to be.”
“You talk about Enzo as if he is a toy,” Dr. Bravo said, “First of all, call him by his name: Enzo. Second, are we really going to subject Enzo to fight this war for us. Hasn’t he been through enough—”
“Ha!” Neema chimed in, “He’s a Lucifero. You know that right? The same fuckers that started the nuclear war and nearly wiped out all of Earth. The whole fucking reason we are on Midara right now. Making him fight in the war is giving him mercy.”
“Those were his ancestors you insolent brat,” Dr. Bravo argued, “I don’t remember seeing Enzo drop a single bomb on anyone. We found him when he was a newborn, you idiot!”
“That’s enough.” Sahel said as he tried to calm everyone down.
“That boy was a weapon by birth. We don’t know if the Luci Company had done anything to him before he was born,” Neema argued back, “He might already have superhuman powers.”
“Are you hearing yourself!?” Dr. Bravo raised her voice, “That boy has been bullied throughout his whole short life for things he never did by people who weren’t even alive then. It is insanity to have him fight a war for problems that aren’t his.”
“That fucker deserves it,” Neema raising his voice as well, “I bet if all the victims back on Earth could talk they would tell us to kill him where he stands.”
“I said that’s enough!” Sahel shouted loud enough to make everyone stare at him. Sahel took this time to calm himself and Dr. Bravo and Neema did the same. After a short pause, Dr. Diallo began talking, “If I could make a suggestion: why not try to return to our original plan with Enzo”
“What do you mean?” asked Neema.
“He was meant to show how close Midarans, and Humans are right? So instead of creating a super soldier with multiple elements, he focuses his training on fire alone. That way we don’t scare Midara with a boy that controls multiple elements and just show them Enzo using fire.”
“How would that help? There is still the problem about the dead Midaran soldiers.” Neema responded.
“The ones you killed?” Dr. Bravo said.
“Please let me finish,” Dr. Diallo continued, “We have the hologram system right here, we can send a message saying we have captured the killer of the two soldiers and wish to handoff the assailant over.” Neema look around the room and say Dr. Bravo nod while making eye contact with him. He chose not to say anything
“If all goes well, they will punish the assailant as they please and we can try to explain to them that we are putting the Midaran blood to good use. This where we show them that Enzo is using his fire for good and once he has 100 percent control over his power, he will take the wall down. At that point, if we have successfully explained Enzo’s purpose, we can reach peace and maybe go back to Earth in the future.” Dr. Diallo finished. The room stayed quiet as everyone pondered his idea. It seemed very idealistic and there were many places where the plan could go awry, but it was all they had.
Sahel broke the silence, “Do we have an agreement to go along with Dr. Diallo’s plan?”
Dr. Bravo said, “I dislike the idea of Enzo still being our trump card but if it means that my students can stay in school, and no one goes to war then I agree.”
Neema voiced his opinion next, “Is Midara really going to believe any reason we give them about Enzo? I mean, two of the soldiers were murdered and then we’re going to show them that boy and be like, ‘oh yeah, those guys that are dead, they gave us this guy. Isn’t he cool?’ I disagree wholeheartedly. Midara will not interpret this as you wish they will.”
“So I am the tiebreaker,” Sahel stated, “I agree with the plan. Dr. Diallo and I will plan a training routine to have Enzo control fire as quick as possible. I will need all your help to make a message to send to Midara. Until then, this meeting is adjourned.”
Dr. Bravo exited the room first, but Neema stared at Sahel for a little longer before he left. He was hoping he would say something about handing off the assailant. Sahel didn't. 227Please respect copyright.PENANA2R9zIrmesF
