We Outgrew each other, and that's fine. I don't feel a pang in my chest or a pit in my stomach when I see you with new people. Why? well, to be simply put I have a version of you that nobody will ever meet. l won't cling to them. I'll keep them safe in my heart. I'll remember all the moments spent crying more than laughing till our faces hurt and our minds became fuzzy. I'll remember that version who helped me fall in love with the concept of friendship. I'll love them but I'll make room just in case you decided to come over and stay awhile.
I'll wait because I know I'll love the new you too. So don't hesitate when you come knocking, come right in. I'm the same person who knew your heart through your eyes, who didn't need you to write so you could be read, I'm the same person who heard you before you spoke. I'll keep you and them safe, even if you come to reminisce, you'll find me right here, beautifully presenting you with the time and effort of a version of 'Us', like an oil painting bathing in a sun-lit balcony of a museum in France.
Vibrant with the sweet scent of home.
So to the ones who outgrew me, I'm who I was when you took shelter in me, so don't be afraid to stop by.
