Somewhere far away in the sky, a large building floats in midair. It doesn't look like any building a normal mortal would be able to build. Even if you neglect the fact that it's in midair. The building looked like it was pulled out of the ground because of the huge rock beneath it.
The exterior of the building was designed to look like a castle with long huge pillars and surrounding the open space which had a nice large pool are ten different statues of different men and women of the same size, each extending their right hand forward. It was the statue of the ten Horizonian gods;
Indeego, the goddess of music. Barbarei, the goddess of the ocean, Rinonus, the god of fertility. Arey, the god of speed. Horon, the god of war. Ivanile, the goddess of dark magic and mischief. Maruyn, the god of air, weather, or flame. Geesorum, the god of hallucination. Ury, the goddess of beauty. Yelenia, the goddess of animals.
And in the middle of all the statues is a smaller faceless statue that has no distinguished figure to tell whether it's a female or male holding a scale in its hand.
The design of the building could leave any man awestruck. It was designed with gold and silver. This is just the outside of the building, the inside is nothing your imagination can think of. Not in your wildest thoughts could you think of its beauty. This building was called The Horizon, home of the gods.
Some of the gods sink themselves into the pool for relaxation. While others are inside the castle doing their business. The horizonian's servants moved around the building serving them. The servants are known as blessed souls, they are no mortals but not gods.
One of the horizonian, Horon stood at the edge of the horizon gazing intensely down at the mortals with concern. The goddess of music stood from where she was seated and walked up to him. Their clothes glow bright white without a single stain.
"Horon, you need to get some rest. You've been staring down at them for days now." She says with her musical voice that's soothing to the ear. Enough to make a mere man go crazy. "The humans have been at peace for years since the Dark war, nothing will happen, well except the war between themselves. Even though I am shocked that Ivanile still hasn't done anything" she finished.
Horon pointed down. "I'm not sure about peace. That young man over there has gone crazy, killing the people of his village because his family died and the villagers did nothing about it." He stopped for a beat.
"The cause of the death of his family is fitful. I fear Ivanile has something to do with this…" he added.
Indeego carefully looped her hand around his and rest her head on his shoulder.
"You can't interfere, the entity forbade us from interfering with their activities"
"I wasn't going to interfere. But I will be compelled to if things get out of hand. And I am sure he will concur"
"Nothing will happen, Ivanile knows the entity will clean her from the face of this universe if she tried anything. Go back to your wife, Barbarei, and your child, Arey, and spend a little time with them" Indeego says.
He nods and smiled.
Down on the human ground in a pub that doesn't look anyway near the beauty of the horizon if I must say. The building is so damaged that it looks like a single blow of wind could destroy it. But the inside is a little decent. A lot of people are inside the building having fun, some are around the table playing cards. Some dancing to the song being played. While Nela, the captain of a squad of the kingdom of Beria sat in front of a counter gulping down cups of rum and her friend Danny, the owner of the pub stood behind the counter serving Nela.
"Serve me another cup" Nela ordered.
"Shouldn't you slow down? You have drained down five cups of rum, isn't it a little too much?" Danny asked in concern.
She furrowed. "No, I haven't even gotten started yet. Look around you, the entire army is here having fun after our victory against the kingdom of Greenvile. No one has to die now, and I'm also happy for the commander, ex-commander if I say. Now fill my cup…"
Danny relented and fill up her cup before sitting on a chair.
"What happened to the commander?" He queried.
She shook her head after gulping her drink down.
"Oh, nothing. He retired from being in the army to live with his pregnant wife. That man loves them with all his heart. He once told me he owed his sanity to his wife. Love him and envy his wife" she says.
Danny swallowed as he listen to her. He picked up a cup and poured himself a drink.
"There you go… tonight's rum is on the king!" She yelled to the soldiers who shout in joy.
"I am happy for you," Danny says.
After a while, a sober guard walked into the pub and didn't stop until he found Nela.
"Captain. There's been a massive slaughter in the village near the border of the Pant kingdom. No man, woman, or child survived the slaughter. The guards there claim it was the kingdom's spies." He stated.
Nela knocked the cup and get to her feet.
"Oh no, that's the commander's home, I have to go…" she says before running out of the pub.
Danny tried to stop her but was too late.
