As I stared at the black bold words, I couldn't believe my eyes. This had to be a dream. There was NO way in hell would I get picked, but as my eyes kept going over and over the words and I kept repeating them again and again in my head, waiting to see if the words would disappear or not.
...They hadn't.
Congratulations, Park Min Joon! You have been selected for the final round of the contest!
I finally let out a screech. Was it a screech? I don't know. It sounded like one and of course it caused my younger brother Min Ho to burst straight into my room.
"Hyung! What's wrong!?" Min Ho asked frantically.
I slowly turned towards Min Ho in my seat, tears welling up in my eyes. Min Ho stared at me in confusion, waiting for me to tell him what caused my sudden outburst.
"Your hyung...won the contest, Min Ho." I spoke softly.
"Huh?! Seriously!?"
I jumped right up and ran over to my fourteen year old little brother and pulled him into a tight hug.
"I'm going to Korea!"
"Good luck, sweetie! Do your best, okay?" My mom told me.
"If things get too hard, remember, you can always come right back home. Though, I doubt that'll happen for you." My dad said with a laugh.
"Go on and kick butt, hyung!" Min Ho shouted with a fist pump.
I smiled as I looked over my wonderful and supportive family. I honestly didn't know what I would do without their support. I'm so grateful that they're not the typical strict Korean parents that only wants me to study, study, study and be a doctor, but they support my dream of wanting to be a Kpop Idol. It means the world to me. Now that I've made it to the final round of the contest, I feel like anything is possible.
I sighed contently as I glanced around the busy airport before looking back at my family.
"I should get going. I don't want to miss my flight. I'll try to call you guys once I settle in."
I gave them a final hug goodbye before grabbing my luggage and set off to my plane. I placed my sunglasses over my eyes and strutted down the airport, pretty much practicing what it would be like once I become an official Kpop member and how traveling would be like for me.
I checked my bags in and stepped onto the plane then I sat down in my seat and got comfortable. I pulled out my cell phone and took a selfie, holding up a peace sign then I published it onto my Instagram with the caption: Heading to Korea while riding in style!
From this day forward, my life will forever change.
