Seeing Ashfur across the camp made Leafpool’s heart slowly shatter. The grey she-cat had gotten dumped by Leafpool’s brother, Squrrielflight and was crushed. Leafpool knew that Squrrielflight was now dating a she-cat named Brambleclaw.
The brown and white tom wasn't mad at his brother. But he still couldn't help but feel bad for Ashfur. But Leafpool didn't know what to do.
Suddenly Ashfur locked eyes with Leafpool. His face going bright red, Leafpool turned his gaze away. But Ashfur got up and approached the medicine cat.
“Hey, do you need anything?” Ashfur asked, tilting her head.
Thinking for a bit, Leafpool didn't know what to say. Finally he opened his mouth and began to force random words out.
“H-herbs!” Leafpool blurted out. Feeling stupid he quickly licked his chest tuft before dipping his head in shame.
“Do you need help gathering herbs?” Ashfur questioned.
“Uh yeah. Sorry I forgot how to speak for a second there.” Leafpool laughed, hoping that he didn't scare off the grey she-cat. But luckily Ashfur laughed back and nodded.
“Alright, I can help you if you want.” She offered.
“That would be great.” Leafpool replied, blushing at the thought of being alone with Ashfur.
Padding out of camp, Leafpool walked alongside Ashfur as they began to look for herbs.
“What kind of herbs do you want me to find?” Ashfur asked.

Approaching a bush Ashfur grinned as she saw the purple berries. Leaning down she picked them up then went back over to the medicine cat.

Once Ashfur dropped the herbs off in Leafpool’s den and then left, Leafpool began to think. He liked Ashfur a lot. Gulping Leafpool’s eyes widened. He couldn't have a crush on the grey she-cat, right?
