“Y-you what?” Ashfur asked, taking a step back.
Regretting what he just said, Leafpool knew that he couldn't back out of it now.
“I love you.” Leafpool repeated. “I kept avoiding you because I tried to make myself fall out of love with you. But it didn't work. It just hurt both of us in the long run.” he admitted.
Ashfur was silent for a while. Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts as she wondered what to say. The grey she-cat had a crush on Leafpool. But she never dared to act on it. Mainly because she knew that it was unlikely that Leafpool loved her back and because of the fact that Leafpool was a medicine cat and Squrrielflight’s brother.
As she was thinking Ashfur soon smiled and glanced up at Leafpool’s face.
“I love you too.” She revealed.
“R-really?” Leafpool gasped.
“Of course.” Ashfur replied.
The two cats didn't know what to say. They simply smiled at each other, warmth clearly showed into their eyes.
“So, what now?” Leafpool asked.
“What do you mean?” Ashfur replied.
“Well, we both love each other. So are we going to be mates or try to push our feelings aside?” Leafpool questioned, shuffling his paws. He hoped that Ashfur would want to be mates with him. But he wouldn't force the grey she-cat to.

“I do. But we will have to be careful and keep our relationship a secret.” Leafpool pointed out.
“I’m fine with that.” Ashfur said happily.
Leaning against his new mate, Leafpool beamed and leaned forward and licked her cheek. Leafpool was beyond happy. Ashfur was finally his.
