Leafpool was making a grave mistake. Yet at the same time he didn't care. Leafpool had been becoming close friends with Ashfur. They spent a lot of time together. Whether by gathering herbs, taking a walk or just hanging out like normal clan-mates.
Everytime Leafpool talked with the grey she-cat his heartbeat quickened. Leafpool knew he couldn't deny the fact he loved Ashfur any longer. But loving Ashfur was wrong for many reasons.
For one Ashfur was Leafpool’s brother, Squirrelflight's ex. Although in his eyes Ashfur thought that Squrrielflight wrongly broke up with Ashfur. But loving Ashfur was also against the medicine cat code. Leafpool couldn't act on his urges. If he did then he would get both him and Ashfur in trouble and Leafpool didn't want that.
But what could Leafpool do? If he kept hanging out with Ashfur then he knew that he would never get over his crush and wouldn't be able to control himself. So, would the answer to that be to simply ignore Ashfur?427Please respect copyright.PENANA3zcCjbvs1m
Leafpool didn't want to do that. The thought of ignoring Ashfur made the brown and white tom’s heart slowly shatter. But he had no other option. He had to do this for both his and Ashfur’s safety.

A moon or so had passed and Leafpool had been ignoring Ashfur like he originally ordered himself. It was hard, very hard. Leafpool urged to go over and greet his friend like he used to. But those days were over.
Ashfur was also crushed it seemed. Leafpool was her only friend and now she was alone once more. It didn't make sense to Ashfur. Why would Leafpool start avoiding her? Did she do something wrong or did Squrrielflight say anything?
Deciding that she wanted some answers Ashfur got up and stormed over to Leafpool.
“Leafpool, can we talk?” Ashfur questioned, her eyes wide with confusion and hurt. She was trying to sound like she was angry. But in reality she just sounded depressed.
Leafpool wanted to say no. But he couldn't force any words out of his mouth. He just stood there, a blank expression plastered onto his face.
“Please.” Ashfur repeated.
Sighing Leafpool nodded and padded out of camp alongside his friend. Once they were deep into their territory Ashfur turned to Leafpool and began to speak.427Please respect copyright.PENANA5T710UFqdr
“W-why have you been avoiding me?” Ashfur demanded. “Did I do something wrong? Was I a bad friend?”427Please respect copyright.PENANAA6lORLorlL
Not knowing how to respond, Leafpool glanced down at his paws.
“I haven't been ignoring you.” he lied. “Being a medicine cat takes up most of my free time.”
“You're lying!” Ashfur spat. Forcing herself to calm down Ashfur sighed. “Look, I'm sorry if i’m a bad friend or just a bad cat. I just want to know what I did wrong.”427Please respect copyright.PENANA8ljIGcT05B
“You didn't do anything wrong.” Leafpool was trembling. He didn't know what to say next.
“Then why have you been ignoring me?” Ashfur asked once more.
“I-it’s because I love you!” Leafpool blurted.
